Highly Pathogenic Avian influenza might be a factor. One of the symptoms is diarrhea and it’s been found in birds in Florida.

Years ago a Northern Flicker decided that his own reflection in the neighbors car mirrors was his rival for territory. He would poo poo all over the car in a fury then display aggressively at his reflection. He did that for about 2 months that year. Good luck with your car.

Cross posted in the Backyard chickens thread. There is a proposed rule change to the animal welfare act (USA) with new regulations for birds and the public comment period is open. I haven’t finished reading the whole thing so I don’t have any comments to make yet but have a looksee for yourself. I love coots. I used to see them in Yellowstone in the summer and I was delighted to find that they are also down here in Georgia in the wild rice marshes.
