I still can't over all the draft analysis of Aaron Donald being that he was an inch too short while ignoring that he had like twenty five different moves and better hand fighting than most 10 year vets

During the Raiders Cowboys game, there was a 4th down run that was so absurdly close that the refs couldn't determine if it was a 1st down by looking at it, so eventually one of them grabbed a folded up index card and stuck it between the ball and chain and declared a first down because he saw the paper move.

It's the Lionsest thing that the three picks in that draft after they drafted Ebron were Lewan, Beckham, and Donald. Then after a one pick break (Fuller) three more Pro Bowlers in Shazier, Zack Martin, and Mosley.

The card thing was just to see if it was at an angle when it went tip of the ball to the pole, and it did so they got the first. Visually, he could see that the tip of the ball would have touched the pole if you could make the chain run through the ball, and used the paper to confirm.

If this wasn't my team I would find it funnier.

Realistically though, Richardson and his family only own 48% of the Panthers. It seems likely that one of the minority owners will buy out enough of his shares to keep the team in Charlotte.

If they did bring on a celebrity owner to try to revamp the team's image, Michael Jordan would be the most likely candidate. Jordan could probably afford a 10-15% stake in the team.

quote:

Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers after the game was asked about Davis' hit, which the NFL will review. He paused before answering, seemingly choosing his words carefully.

"I think it was an unnecessary hit," Rodgers said. "Unfortunately (if) I throw a better ball that situation doesn't happen.

"He's a repeat offender, so I’m sure the league will deal with him according to that."

Indeed, Davis was fined $48,620 earlier this season for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Buccaneers wide receiver Adam Humphries. Including that amount, Davis has been fined a total of $122,184 for six separate incidents throughout his 12-year career. He has not been suspended for an illegal hit.

quote:

Adams on Monday morning expressed his thoughts on Davis' hit via a series of tweets from his Twitter account.

"I’ll never understand it," Adams wrote. "Game is already dangerous enough and we got Pro Bowl players out here head hunting and saying they 'didn’t mean to harm me' ... Somebody please explain to me what I wasnt trying to hurt him means when we nowhere near the play and u lead with ya head and ear hole a defenseless player ...

"Look it’s football but no room for s— like that. We supposed to be in this together n look out for one another not mess with a mans livelihood and hand out unnecessary concussions. We all got mouths to feed what if I did that to him and his kids cant eat ... Not the type to rant but when u go through this s— twice in a year it takes a lil toll on u so excuse me."

And if you had any integrity, you would relinquish the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award you won in 2015. You're not worthy to carry that torch and enjoy that honor. You don't deserve it. Truth is, the league would be better without players like you in it.

To be fair the Lions had Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate as their top 2 wide receivers and Nick Fairley and Suh at Defensive Tackle so they were trying to fix the glaring hole they had at Tight End and complete their offense. That said Lewan would have be 100x the pick Ebron was even at that time.

Of the 10 top TEs in the league currently I doubt any were drafted in the 1st round. It just seems like a position the NFL overall hasn't figured out how to scout. I know at least that Ozzie Newsome was high as a kite on Ebron, so we lucked out pretty hard when the Lions jumped on him before the Ravens could.

E: Okay, so Engram is doing better this year than I'd thought.

Current leaders by yards at TE 1st round picks bolded.

2. Kelce
3. Ertz
4. Engram
5. Graham
6. Rudolph

Browns currently have the #1 and #4 picks in the first round.

- I believe they are 100% for the #1 pick regardless of what they do in the last two games due to strength of schedule. Not worth worrying about anyway.
- Giants at 2-12 are guaranteed a top 7 pick if they win out, but are picking either #2 or #3 overall if they lose or go 1-1.
- Colts at 3-11 will pick a #3 if the Giants win one game, and #2 if the Giants win two, and if the Colts lose out. If the Colts win one game, they could drop to #4 (swap with the Texans), and since they play the Texans week 17 it's possible they win that one. If the Colts win out they could drop all the way to the #10 range, depending on what other teams below them do.
- Texans at 4-10 currently hold the #4 spot, but the pick belongs to Cleveland. If the Texans lose out, including a week 17 loss to the Colts, they could end up at #3 overall due to SOS. Based on current SOS, if the Texans win one game, they could drop all the way to around #10, and if they win out they could be as low as #14 overall, but there is still a lot of volatility among the middle of the pack teams.

-- If by some miracle, the Giants win out, the Colts win out (or possibly go 1-1 if end of season SOS puts them behind the Texans), and the Texans lose out, Cleveland is getting the #1 and #2 overall picks.

-- If Cleveland loses out, Giants lose out, Colts go 1-1 (beating the Texans), and the Texans lose out, Cleveland has #1 and #3.
