yeah i was there. super cool to see you btw. andrew morris's responses to all the DSA people's questions were boring though. if i ever do a q&a i promise way more excitement and much shorter answers. it's cool to hang out with the DSA people because ive kinda ended up spending a lot of time with normie democrats lately. they're all super nice and helpful but nobody there is demanding free weed from the government

It's just Denton, is a relatively large suburb of Dallas.

Yikes you've just lost my internet vote. (suburbs are the worst and should be destroyed as part of a 50 state strategy)

theres a voters guide questionnaire thing coming out soon that pretty much covers everything they asked.

as for "how will i pay for things" i talked about raising the state franchise tax, oil and gas production tax, and establishing a state level estate tax to cover the gap left by the new federal estate tax law. they asked me about that because i told them that my answer to dealing with poverty and welfare in the state included "... just giving people money." without means testing or work requirements or other bullshit

while this tragic crime occurred outside my district, i do feel for the loss of the victim. i do not want us to miss the forest for the trees, however. the big crime here is Wizard's of the Coast artificially raising the "value" of their cards for the purpose of selling more gambling-style booster packs to children. i would gladly serve on a committee to find productive solutions to this issue that satisfy industry needs while still protecting consumers.

I liked this part.

Richard Wolf of Flower Mound is a 23-year-old college dropout who lives at home with his parents and says he's never held a job for more than a few months and "never paid taxes." Nevertheless, he's quick to outline which taxes (paid by others) he'd increase to pay for his favorite programs. We suspect residents in this district would prefer somebody with a bit of life experience who can complete a questionnaire without resorting to profanities or boasts that he "will be the best legislator of all time."

This district voted for Trump, so the Dallas Morning News clearly doesn't know what it's talking about. But the Dallas Morning News having no idea what it's talking about is not unusual.
