I remember a conversation with a sysadmin dude in the early 00s, he tried to convince me 128 kbps is good enough, and no one can tell the difference between mp3 and cd anyway. tbf there was some dumb article in a popular nerdmag, where they invited musicians to spot the difference, and they couldn't.
