I wouldn't be surprised if beating the game is all they intend to do. It's already tough enough to seek out the local boss without accidentally finding a goal instead. But yeah, that reward is pretty OP.

Yeah, I think we're generally going to at least try to enter every room before we hit up the final boss, then use whatever the item/ability/whatever is to clear the rest of the treasure chests.

So uh, hey, how's about we just plow through to the "last level" and beat that boss next, then? Almost seems easier than half the navigation of this game so far.

It makes sense. After Star Allies, you can get kind of spoiled on actual decent AI for companions. It was definitely an afterthought in this game. (Though Star Allies wasn't perfect either, usually when it comes to being crushed by environment.)

Why, yes, I do like Kirby games.
When your 'allies' start getting into a power-eating loop, I think you need to swallow the power star yourself and shoot it away from them. Maybe then they'll be less useless. (I finished this game, but unlike other Kirby games, I've felt nooooo urge to replay it.)

Just a heads-up to save a mighty headache of unnecessary exploration: the switch palaces are in levels 3-1, 5-1, and 7-1! I assume you're trying for all the medals at least, a pretty good endpoint (although there is even more bonus content that fills up the 100%)
For the Kracko minigame, you can tap on blocks to weaken them and detonate the bombs from afar. The level 3 difficulty of the minigame also has a super secret in it, but you'll probably be too busy trying for a good time to find that!
The next level is called Arange because... well, it should be pretty self-evident in the future when you see the names of the other worlds

Aaaaand here comes the next game up, Kirby: Canvas Curse! This one's... really loving weird by even most Kirby standards. If you're not familiar, it's an exclusively touch screen-controlled game (primarily with the stylus), where you have to interact physically with Kirby and his enemies, and draw paths, in order to succeed. It's gonna take some getting used to, but it does seem to be going by pretty quickly.

Heavy emphasis on TAS, since human beings do not have the physical capacity (or the brain-rending patience) necessary to git gud enough at this thing to make it feel as brisk and breezy as standard Kirby titles.

Okay so, time to level with you guys real quick. For the recording batch that starts here, we unfortunately discovered (far too late) that the cable that normally connects the 3DS headphone jack to the PC to capture audio was detached in the middle, resulting in no game audio being recorded. Great way to finish off the game, right? Well, I wasn't going to go and leave the videos with zero background music, especially since we commented on it a bit, so I went and manually re-added the BGM to the best of my ability. No sound effects since episodes would take several hours to work them in accurately, but hopefully this will do!

You're not wrong. I have a pretty strong stomach for "bad games" but Canvas Curse is just... really tedious and clumsy, and nothing really stands out as being particularly good (or even bad enough to be enjoyably rippable). So yeah, it's fantastic that we're finally moving onto probably the least gimmicky Kirby game in a long stretch, Kirby: Squeak Squad!

Unfortunately, the first four episodes of this were recorded in the same stretch as the last two of Canvas Curse, so I've had to manually re-add BGM here too. Gonna be double-checking our setup before any recording for the foreseeable future to avoid this from here out, these episodes take about 4x longer to edit as a result.

Honestly yeah, that was the most disappointing part about losing the game audio (aside from just the already-elevated level of "oh, gently caress" of losing it for the final boss battle) -- the screams were really goddamn unsettling and, as the slightest of spoilers, there seems to be a trend of that among "Soul" bosses given how a certain other notable member of the set screeches like a loving banshee when defeated.

And World of Drawcia was a neat level, it was a really intriguing setup and didn't feel nearly as clumsy or contrived as most of the rest of the game.
