just ignore all consumer sets that are HDR 400 and HDR 600, they are basically consumer sets with the words "HDR" printed on them

HDR1000 is like the minimum i would accept on a phone

Fun fact: Dolby ran tests up to 20K Nits, and consumers were asking "what that's it?"

they settled on 10K nits because it would fit nicely into a 10-bpc PQ gamma curve with no banding, any more than that and you get banding.

also average screen brightness is still about the same as what current consumers see on rec.709 displays in store mode which is about 200-300 nits but you get the added benefit of everything not being the same brightness
