Perhaps you could just translate foreign languages and sound effects? Those are the best parts of your subtitles.

That's all the response I need This episode features the section that irritates me the most in the entire game. The dual turret section. It's sluggish, it's brutal and boring at the same time, it's not fun, Rhodes is an rear end in a top hat. I don't think I got this pissed off at a game since Blood Omen 2. Luckily, the game is going to pick up in quality after this. I also stopped doing subtitles halfway through the video as per the public response

Wow yeah, those are some bad turret sections, even for mid-2000s games

Just do the various "(thing) intensifies" subtitle because that always gets a chuckle out of me.

Much like turret sections, grenades in video games seem to be pretty hard to do right. I just kind of felt sad when the grenade launcher ended up doing more in friendly fire.

this turret section was where I stopped playing when I tried this on General years ago. In fact I feel like the turret sections and the general linearity of the game just made playing through the game multiple times more of a chore than actual fun and a challenge. At least they learned their lesson with the new Doom as far as difficulty goes

Surely 'jivete' is present in 'zhena', 'knyazhich' and 'druzhina' (wife, young prince and warband, very core words), and even in your 'bozhe moi' expletive . This does not make Sledgeonovich any less idiotic, though. Nice Quake 4 LP, by the way; I played it on release, but drat if I remember anything but the plot 'twist' (the original Quake 2, which was about as brown and bland even before Call of Duty, at least was THE game at multiplayer LAN clubs for about two or three years before CS took over everywhere).

Russian words have zh and don't have dzh. We only say dzh in loanwords and foreign names, including names of other Slavs that do have dzh And thanks!

Alexeythegreat posted:3. Bozhe moi isn't even a curse, it's literally like me saying 'ga-hd' in English Well, curse words don't have to be obscene, they just need to be shouted out at volume. One of my friends liked saying "scheisse", but to me, it isn't German unless you have that hard "ach" noise in the middle, so I prefer "ach du lieber". French has a very brief "merde", but it has their throat-scratchy "r" in the middle, so that's okay. I rather liked "madre dios" (or rather, "madre de dios"), but my wife found it offensive when I told her what it means, so I've stopped. Shame. I liked rolling the "r" when I'd say it.

Heck, sometimes it's not even the meaning of the perjorative that's the best part. You can sound so derisive with 'ya numpty', even though it simply means you fool.

Actually, Czech would disagree with some of its more insane consonant stacking, such as "prd" (fart) or "do prdele" (oh poo poo!). Prd in particular can be turned into the ultimate dismissal, it's like dropping an anvil on the argument if pronounced with care.

I AIN'T DONE YET Something else that Quake games don't do that Quake 4 does are vehicle sections. Unlike the turret sections, the vehicle sections are a lot less grating and are even fun at first. It doesn't hurt that they aren't particularly difficuly, even on max difficulty. The first vehicle is the hovercraft, which regenerates armor (so I assume it's something biomechanical like the Technopolip from Serious Sam 3: BFE, because how else would a tank regenerate armor), shoots slow rockets, and can kill things by ramming into them. Also, giant spiders.

This game doesn't have enough brown, grey and black palettes. 0/10 would not recommend. Also, I felt Doom 3 based games graphically aged really badly versus Q3/UT2003 based games.
