It was hovering around the HM mark but the final, excruciating, horrifying 5-10 minutes pushed it over the edge. The torture of Tanahashi by the sadist Suzuki was incredible to watch, the ending and the aftermath etc all just made it a must-watch. What a great match.

Ospreay's initial respect towards Okada turning into fire as his confidence grew was tremendous, and the final few minutes of the match were incredibly good with both taking control in different sections and some beautiful false finishes and tremendous counters. The former was a great callback to their match earlier in the year where Suzuki brutalized Tanahashi, and the latter was a continuation of Knife Pervert's scumbag ways and the ongoing weirdness of Okada dealing with no longer being a living God. Real good start to G1.

, shame the crowd didn�t help them feel like HM matches (especially the main)

It is an amazing synthesis of a YTR match and an Ishii match where they do just enough hard striking and goofy cheating spots that you get everything you want, but at the same time it tells a great story that the finish perfectly pays off.
