I've gotten to around episode 50 of the original series. I like Mizuki even less now that it's clear she existed mainly to be a red herring for Yue's identity. The idea some people have that everyone in CCS is unrealistically nice makes even less sense now; Eriol is such an rear end in a top hat!

I'm on episode 55 of the original series. Is it just me, or did they rehash ideas from past episodes a little starting around the time Eriol showed up? Sakura fights a giant stuffed animal, Sakura gives her great-grandfather flowers after several characters talk about how great her mother was, Sakura gets trapped in an Alice in Wonderland pastiche...

I always feel like the last third of show is where it drags the most, but it’s kinda expected when they’re working with much shorter manga content with a major plot point excised completely.

For all my whining about recycling ideas, though, I did like the second Alice episode. It's good to see that there's a part of Sakura's subconscious that realizes what Eriol is up to.

Something I hadn't realised till now (despite being Kero's schtick) is how much food porn this anime has. They go to have lunch and the camera pans over their lunch boxes and I just hate how food pornless my childhood was.

There's no way Tomoyo doesn't understand her own feelings. Between the words she used when comforting Meiling, the way she encouraged Sakura to pursue Syaoran and watching her own mom's obsession with Nadeshiko, it is crystal clear that she gets it. It feels so weird to watch a show where everyone has already completed their character arcs so in between saving Tomoeda Sakura's arc is basically working up the courage to phone Syaoran. I'm glad they're going with the anime canon since it is so much more packed with content than the manga, even if it is missing a few plot beats. Not happy that they're retconning the Sealed Card though. That movie was my favorite thing in the whole franchise. I was never a big fan of Eriol and his crew but Spinny as the straight man to Kero's... Kero-ness is growing on me fast.

Aw man I forgot how much I loved Kero He's so wonderfully .gif-able. Probably my favorite mascot character. Suppi as well. Also, I actually really like the change from Suppi to Spinny but I will probably always say Suppi. Last year at a convention my friend bought a Kero and a Suppi plush but they were wearing little hooded-caplets of the other Thought really hard about buying a pair as well but I was pretty short on cash that weekend. Friend and I were actually cosplaying CCS that day too.I've missed this show a lot and it's honestly so nice watching something as relentlessly happy as Card Captor Sakura. It's a little refreshing.

It was very nice of the card to let Sakura put her boots on before it started dragging her towards itself. Spot checked one partcilaur scene of episode 3's dub and yep, Monica Rial is perfeclty fine as Sakura. "I thought we were all done with the rain..." She sounds like a puppy after failing to climb up a flight of stairs.

Sakura capturing Flight not through violence but by friendliness was the cutest thing ever, as was Flight's clear shyness. I just had the biggest smile during all of that, as well as any Tomoyo scene because Tomoyo is still great. This show is great

I don't know if it's a deliberate callback, but it reminded me of how Sakura caught Fly in the manga, where it was specifically immune to Windy and she only got it by noticing its leg was injured and talking it down. The anime obviously moved this setting to Dash, though it lost the direct connection to Sakura with it.

I'm like 80% sure what's happening is that Sakura is inadvertently stealing this new kid's magic. The new cards pretty clearly do not have her name written on them. The only mystery to me is why her old cards went transparent.

Part of me wants to see the scene where Akiho asks Sakura and Tomoyo about Eriol but with someone less painfully nice in the latter's role. "How was this Eriol-kun?" "Kind of a dipshit, honestly. Constantly threatened people's lives to get what he wanted, refuses to actually explain anything, literally responsible for every bad thing that has ever happened. Nice cat though."
