So visually this looked great. Plot-wise I'm not too keen on the attractive girl character who is somehow a demon at fighting despite her slight frame and who doesn't understand human emotions at all. PTSD could explain it, but there's lots of human interaction in the army so wouldn't she have picked up some social skills over the years? Either way I'm just a little tired of these types of female characters. I'm a big fan of how there's a rim shading on the characters that reflects what the predominate color is in their environment. I liked that more than everything else in the show.

Huh, yeah the synopsis of the novel is: "“I’m Violet Evergarden, the Auto Memories Doll who will rush to provide service anywhere you wish.“ That translucent voice comes from a robotic beautiful girl with blonde hair and blue eyes like she came out of a storybook." So either that gets scrapped in the anime or the novel is misleading at first.

Yeah someone described her character as Saber crossed with Rei Ayanami and while those are two very popular characters which have inspired huge sales, I dislike both those characters. So while this series will look very nice and potentially be a huge hit for Kyoani, I'm not sure I'm a fan.

I'll probably keep watching just for how high the production values are but I hope this character grows considerably as a person.

I wish all this animation talent was spent on a series I actually cared out. Like people say Berserk can't be done hand-drawn because the pencil mileage is insane, but they're spending all this pencil mileage on this dang show.

The main draw of the anime is the visuals, but what was so great about the light novel that it won awards and got such a fast adaption? Cause so far the characters seem pretty uninspiring and the worldbuilding is a mess. Smatterings of technology mixed from all different ages.
