I'm skeptical but we'll see - History question: Based on her performance last year, it still blows my mind that Halep managed to end the year at World #1. Has any player ever ended #1 in a year when they also lost in the first round of a grand slam? I know in the '70s Jimmy Connors ended #1 despite not playing the French, but that's all I've got.
