Modus Pwnens posted:Where did you get that from? In actual speedrun news, some new clipping tricks have been found in Doom 64 that involve using the impact sprites drawn by the Super Shotgun to generate lag that can be used to exploit the collision detection (DK64 style?) and pass through thin bars. This can apparently save around 2-3 minutes throughout the course of a run. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnM_isD0bf8

ProjektorBoy posted:It had a ton of hacks and tricks to fake it, and there are at least a couple of levels where crossing past a certain coordinate makes the game put up fake walls where you once could stand so that you could have the illusion of a stacked room. This weird grid-o-memory-tiles thing I'm pretty sure doesn't really have a comparison in the PC Doom engines where you had easy access to OOB via the noclip cheat. Probably due to memory protections that weren't present on consoles. It just kinda seems like going OOB in the console Doom ports results in all sorts of weird poo poo happening - I recall there being a bug in one map of PSX Doom where a Lost Soul could get out of the map and start wrecking havoc in the console RAM somehow...

The Doom Wiki posted:Dramatic memory corruption can be triggered by Lost Souls moving outside the normal boundaries of the levels. Linedefs and sectors in the map will become progressively distorted from their normal layouts until the areas become unrecognizable and eventually the game crashes.

If you've rented a porno in a hotel, the chances are it was put there by LodgeNet. And yes, many, many, many people pay those ridiculous prices for hotel porno flicks. As a matter of fact, adult content is the single largest revenue generator for the company.

Turns out that when someone spends decades trying to scrape picoseconds off their time on one videogame (or one level of one game), they might be a little odd in ways that aren't endearing or quirky like some people are.

Rando tournaments go on a long time, but each round by its very nature is different in some way, so there's always interesting changing and adaption of strategies going on that keeps things fresh. I feel they could be sped up by having, say, four player races instead of two player in the earlier stages, but this would also increase the difficulty of dealing with tech, getting everyone's schedules in sync etc. and some work would have to be done re: layouts, commentary and the like to ensure everything is still easy for viewers to keep track of.
