This may be a bit technical and mainly interesting for falconry nerds, but I found a youtube where a guy makes rabbit-skin jesses for his birds. Jesses are the straps that go around the bird's legs, and are used to keep it tethered. Originally he did it for his owls to keep them from picking at their feet, but he also found that his other birds would be more willing to go flying in the winter if they had been fitted with small pom-pom leg warmers.
