I quite like Under The Lake / Before The Flood, but I think they were probably one more draft away from being very good.

Yeah I quite liked it too. Especially the rock intro to the second one.

But the most telling moment was this. I bought a video of The Complete Bagpuss (i.e. a video containing all thirteen episodes of Bagpuss, in case "Complete Bagpuss" sounds like one of the more obscure insults of Frank Butcher), and had it with me at the Tavern. I was showing it to a female acquaintance, when Moffat swooped past and looked down at it.

'That's just saaad,' he said.

'But… but it's Bagpuss,' said my acquaintance.

And Moffat twisted his face into a revolted sneer before leaving us.

Two reasons why not:

1) The Power of Kroll
2) not Romana II

The Power of Kroll is unfairly maligned :colbert:

It's got a Robert Holmes script, some decent location work, actual integration of the Key to Time into the story, and one of Tom Baker's best grins. You could do a lot worse (eg the following story).

It is a hackneyed joke, every Sci Fi show set in the future has done something similar.

It's going to be impossible to beat Star Trek Beyond's version of it.

In a desperate attempt to rehabilitate the image of the Daleks after that last post, I offer the following: The first, and only, Dalek comedian:

WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH CALLING THE DOCTOR "THE ONCOMING STORM?" HE IS NEVER GOING TO REIGN.

WHY ARE THE DALEKS SUPREMELY SKILLED AS STAND-UP COMEDIANS? BECAUSE WE CANNOT SIT DOWN.

WHAT DID THE THAL SAY TO THE DALEK? "PLEASE DO NOT EXTER-AAHHH..." ::pause:: THAT IS THE JOKE.

DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE DALEK PEEPING TOM? HE WAS ARRESTED FOR EYE-STALKING.

DO YOU KNOW WHY THE DALEKS ARE SUPERIOR TO ALL OTHER SPECIES? ::pause:: NO? THAT IGNORANCE IS PART OF WHY WE ARE SUPERIOR! YOU WILL ALL LAUGH NOW OR YOU WILL BE EXTERMINATED!

The blue cloak he wears in Revelation of the Daleks isn't bad either.

I like him but I think the love of the actor meant they started to do silly things with his character just to keep him around.
