Gen 3 was before the Physical Special split, right? So your Nobunaga will be good at half his final typing's STAB moves with that Nature.

I remember on my Alpha Sapphire playthrough, my Swampert and Beautifly were the only pokemon I used towards the end. I'm pretty sure they tackled the Elite 4 on their own, at the very least. Swampert's movepool leaves a little to be desired, though.

The physical special split does a lot to help Swampert in ORAS. Though you're right his native learnpool is not great.

That's basically Gamefreak's modus operandi with the rock type, too. Most of them are statted as slow and defensive, when the Rock type has a shitload of weaknesses & generally does better when statted as a fast glass cannon.

Of course they're going for what stats logically feel right(rocks are slow and tough) instead of what actually works well with the type, but still.

Also because rocks are slow, all the rock moves have lovely accuracy. And there's only one decent Special Rock move, which has almost zero distribution.

I always figured Steel and Dark were introduced because Rock and Ghost weren't doing their jobs. And instead of rebalancing them they just added more into the fire because Gamefreak.

And then they made steel into one of the most powerful defensive types and least resisted attack type.

You needed to either have 3 of the official nintendo branded link cables that let you do the 4 player, or one of the 3rd party ones that had four connectors. Also Pokemon was no longer cool enough to play in school during Gen 3.

Thankfully there's a handy chart that demonstrates the issue.

Of note, I think the only ground types you have access to by this point (in ORAS certainly, dunno about Emerald) are Marshtomp, Geodude and Nincada, and Nincada doesn't stay a ground type when it evolves.

True enough, but the thing that shows up in your party once Nincada evolves won't have a problem with this place either.
Only the Voltorb has anything that can kill you.

Doesn't ORAS the game play with the idea of multiverse in Pokemon? And aren't the Rainbow Rocket (best team name) leaders from worlds where they win? Could work pretty easy.

Seviper is a cool snek and also my friend. Poison needs more love in general imo.

Yes, ORAS and Sun/Moon take place in an alternate universe. USUM take place in the main pokemon universe, maybe. But all the villains Giovanni summoned were from universes where their master plans succeeded.

There may or may not be more, but when you raid their base in this game you find Skull members arguing because they all have the same name, and that one of them stole another person's completely identical wardrobe and they're mad about it.

The thing I hate about Lysandre is that he basically goes around talking about how great the world will be once he kills everyone in it, right in front of the professor, and no one bats an eye. Except that he's an eccentric rich guy.

At least the other villain teams are treated like proper criminals.

Norman gets a very rude trick in ORAS, even more rude than Facade.

Retaliate.

a BP 70 move that doubles to 140 if your pokemon fainted in the previous turn. Also Slaking can always attack the turn he comes in.

Norman has two Slakings in ORAS.

Pretty sure contests are optional in every game. I know the replacement in Gen V isn't mandatory, because I never touched that with a fifty-foot pole.

That said, I believe ORAS gates a Mega Stone for either Altaria or Lucario behind contests. Can't remember which.

Lucarionite, you need to beat master rank in all 5 contests then keep doing contests till Lisia shows up as a random opponent, then beat her in that contest.

Or just trade a Lucarionite forward from X/Y because you don't hate yourself.

Another one? It's like there's not a lot of Ice types in this region. And yet here's a trainer to specialize in that type.

They do this again in Diamond/Pearl with Flint. The Fire type specialist of the elite four. Of course, there's literally only one fire type evolutionary family in the pre-platinum shinnoh dex. So Flint uses it, and the final stage of the fire starter. He also uses a Steelix, Lopunny, and Drifblim because they can learn fire moves(even if Drifblim's sole contribution is Will-o-the-wisp)

Man, gently caress events. They're something I'll always hate about this franchise, and the fact that Nintendo/Game Freak bothered putting up a system through the internet then never used it, at least definitely not to the extent they should have, is irritating. Especially if you live outside the countries Nintendo cares about, as I do. It sucks.
So let's talk about Wish Chansey. It was a special Chansey that knew Wish and Sweet Scent and was only available in Fire Red and Leaf Green.

And by "Available" i mean "Was only distributed at the New York City Pokemon center for roughly 17 days" Also you had to get lucky enough to get a Chansey, there were a bunch of other pokemon(that also knew Wish) that you could get instead out of your mystery egg.

Why is this important?

Because there is no legitimate way for Chansey to know Wish outside of this event. And since it was a promotion for FR/LG games you could move tutor Seismic Toss onto the Chansey, which it also could not(at the time) learn any other way.

And then come generation 5 they changed Wish so that it heals for 50% of the user's hit points rather than the recipients and Oh yeah doesn't Blissy have the highest hit point total in the game?

There were definitely more Wishtoss Blisseys roaming around on the wifi than there were people who actually went to the NYC Pokemon center.

Hobgoblin2099 posted:

So Pikachu can sometimes use electric attacks on Ground-types, but Seismic Toss still doesn't work on Ghosts.

Alright. :v:
