Oh man I enjoyed the heck out of the finale! Ending/finale stuff: Really threw everything I had into it and it paid off, although it was pretty annoying having Chris's "defense algorithms" pop up and destroy whatever defenses I'd started setting up! Kind of disappointing that they pulled the rug out from under the "sacrifice" though.

My tactic was to hide behind the rocks and let the mortars nail most of the regular wanderers, just killing the ones that got close enough by bottlenecking them at a fence.

Yeah kitchenettes can make steamed stuff, but you'll still need cooking pots and smokers to keep access to the rest of the recipies
