It's why I bought up the Imperial Assault stuff to make sure I had every expansion. I got that vibe of the RPG line hitting splatbook saturation, and that usually means a new edition. X-Wing 2nd ed didn't seem to take off in the same way that 1st did, Armada and Legion just never really took off and Destiny is already dead. Shifting things from company to company either means a line-wide refresh or trying to shuffle legal responsibility onto an entity that can be let fail.

I also wonder how well Legion actually is doing. All the people I know personally that are playing it have a few actual figures, but the large majority of their collections are printed. As far as it going away forever and ever, now that the rules are out and the community is established, I could see it being like the Decipher CCG where there is gently caress all official product, but a decently stable fan community.
I never bought an actual Legion product because I don't play but I have a fuckton of random printed figures I grabbed off Ebay just for the fun of painting them. Presumably people aren't putting a whole pile of effort into making sculpts of Ewoks wearing Rebel Trooper gear for a game that nobody plays.

The way I paint white stuff is I spray them white, give them a ridiculously heavy wash with GW's black shade, spray them white again but very lightly, and then drybrush white over that. I've not done stormtroopers yet, but here's how it looks on a mech of approximate size.

The May 4th retail bundle offer is kinda blowing my mind.

For the price of a core set (£110 these days apparently), you get a core set and six expansions including a choice of commander.

I chucked stuff into a cart and the expansions alone added up to over £150. So it is something like 60% off.

Very tempted to grab the clones bundle and sell the core set off later as I already have two. I could maybe use the B1's from it to take me up to six squads, but I don't see myself needing a third squad of Droidekas, or 6 squads of phase 1 clones. Maybe a third Barc? I dunno.
I spreadsheeted this up using Element Games prices and the savings are £139.43 for the OT boxen and £146.41for the Prequels. It's making me strongly consider just dropping a fuckton of cash on all the clones and clankers I would ever need.

Arcs were busted as hell on release, got nerfed until they were strong but overcosted, then both they and the faction as a whole got hit even harder without getting points cuts; so yeah they're not that great right now. Padme is a strong option and honestly doesn't really need upgrades herself that much. A generic clone commander is also a strong pick up- cheap, you can fit one into any corps centered list easily, and the pack has generic command cards as well
Looking at the Phase I Clone Trooper card it seems I can add one generic trooper and exactly one variant of any kind. I've got two cores, an ARC box, the specialists box, Rex, Padme, the Phase I upgrade box, and an AT-RT. Seems like I have way more than I need TBH, and plenty of options to dick around with. I could probably stretch to five or even six full Corps if I really wanted to be silly and run minimal units. I haven't even thought about looking at the Seperatists.

Irritatingly difficult to photograph these on my desk compared to most other things I've painted over the years, but the tester unit is complete. I actually really like how fast these were to paint, so I might not bother doing any blue detailing on them and just leave them as Shineys. The later units will get some markings to differentiate them somehow and make them fit with Rex.

Really successful contrast job. If you want to take that battle damage up exactly one notch, where you've got the large splodges if you put a little black smear in the middle it looks like the progression goes burnt paint > bare metal > carbon scored metal. I used to do it on all my second hand BattleTech stuff wherever the old lead minis got dinged up in the process of stripping the paint.

Get yourself a bunch of scatter terrain bits like crates and the like and build them so they lean against it. You can have sci-fi crates and wooden crates to switch out. Maybe add a little cable port and then build a set of radio antennae/hypernet nodes that plug into it.

Quotin' myself for context. I have realised I don't actually have enough ARC Troopers to do the squad with Echo, the Strike Team, and Fives with the Phase Is. Is it better to drop Fives or Echo?

It's also interesting that the sprue only has enough jetpacks for three troopers, but gives you stands for four, and only has four regular backpacks. That seems like somewhat of an odd oversight.

The thing that I'm *really* curious about is comparing the Shatterpoint Kenobi to the Legion Kenobi and thereby working out if it'd be worth getting Ventress to run as a proxy for Maul, who is a smidge (presumed) dead by the time the Seperatist army actually fights anything else you can buy.
