It's March, time for a new and not so improved chat thread....! RULE FOR THE MONTH Due to the cost of producing new threads, If you score a first post on a new page, you must pay for the Pet Toll Road. You are hereby billed one cute picture of a cat or dog in a car. Pay your toll or have your car towed! Remember that these threads cost a lot to build so they are being contracted out to FARTGAS, the Facility for Abnormal Reanl Turbulance, Gastronomical Analysis Station to build and for the convenience of this new chat thread, we have decided that the best pay for it's huge cost is cute picture of pets in cars Post a new page? Pay the toll! Or else..... probably nothing unless Mr Mod decides to have fun with it. But pay your toll anyway and help us afford new chat threads! Given the SA coffers are low a small pet toll as set out is a resonable request to provide this vital service to the community of shitposting in that a OP might be created and a months worth of poo poo posting enabled. While in many months the socialist pet tax has been enough it has deemed this time that we must enact this not unresonabe toll being one pet toll for the first poster of each page. Otherwise these threads will deteriorate to become barely coherent reddit level woithout proper maintenance and construction

Being sex free for a few years doesnt bother me. Prostitution's legal here, if I really felt desperate I'd jsut go hire a hooker. Buuuut..... it's just not on a priority list. And to be honest, I havent felt this good mentally in a looong time, even if getting out crippled me financially and I have no place to put too many Subarus. I just had to recognise I got into the wrong relationship and kept it going because.... *reasons* for far too long and it was poisonous to me. My mother isnt young exactly anymore (Even if she has tayed fit, 74 and COPA do take a toll eventually) so I think she quietly doenst mind someone else around to help look after the house and pay bills. I'd prefer being able to have a cat but not right now. After I get past this Canada trip I'll relook at my options and work out what to do from there. Fairly good chance I susepct I'll go up north where rent is a lot cheaper. Edit : Pet toll booth coming up!

I'm in two minds about marriage these days. I've had one end and another long term "domestic partnership" also fail after 9 years.... I'm kinda glad I wasnt married this time around. I will say the marriage was worth it. Hard work but even in the end, I have much fond memories. The recent relationship..... ummm..... yeah maybe not so good and my mental state seriously unravelled at the end too. The one thing you cant overlook about a forml marriage is the legal certainty of the relationship it brings. Sure "defacto" is supposed ot have the same but in reality it doesnt. The only thing I miss right now from either is having a cat. Cant have that where I am right now.... kinda blows rear end but I cant complain about the general freedom to keep my own schedule. I ahve hosed myself financially but mentally.... I am doing sooooo much better and I'm starting to ride big kms again.

It *is* iimportant to me - Check my Strava to see I back that talk up. The above only applies IF it's important to you. Acknowledged its not for plenty of people and in my case it's not vanity, there's a long history of heart disease and grossly overweight on one side of the family and have a guess what genetics I picked up - I'd prefer to avoid the latter with all its problems and mitigate the former for as long as I can (You cant avoid genetic hand me downs but exercise has been clearly shown to either lessen the impct or lengthen the time until onset most of the time. I might drop dead tomorrow still but I'd rather ride and be fit till that point rather than just roll off the couch sideways as a ball of lard and they have to remove my corpse with a forklift) Darchangel posted:It could also do with *why* she gained the weight. I see it the other way personally (not saying anyone else's view is invalid, fitness is a personal thing and it takes personal reasons so your opinion on the why and how will vary) - If you dont draw a line in the sand and say you are going to make a lifestyle of fitness, you WILL slip, no matter the positive reinforcement. It's a lot of hard and thankless work at times tho but you cant stop. It's probably one of the few places where I think BOOTSTRAPS!! is actually pretty true - you HAVE to make the decision and its all on you to do the work and not accept excuses. I'm not goign to pretend its easy to say enough is enough. It's loving not easy at all and it might take a MASSIVE wakeup call... mine was my father's heart attack and even then, getting seperated was the even bigger kick I needed to really make it a lifestyle, rather than play around hte edges. The issue here tho is that the responses expressed by the posters in question were close to, if not actual, dog whistles that white nationalists use that seem like they are trying to hold a rational debate, when that is far from what they are trying to do. Now wether or not they are racists I do not express an opinion on, but the language they are using is a concern. As I earlier said, it would have been wise to avoid using said language if they wish to speak on such issues - and I might also add as my opinion, an adult response is to jump on said loaded language, call it out and then be prepared to explain why it is a concern so others may be aware of it as in my experience, it is rarely used by mistake. I think it actually reflects well on AI that posters already can recognize the loaded language and are prepared to question it.

While I agree spay / neuter is a must and always get a rescue animal.... sorry but hybrid vigor is very much a thing. Thats why most cats and mutts dont tend to have the long list of issues purebred dogs do, their gene pool is more like a gene lake and genetic issues just dont get a chance to loop back in with inbreeding. Plus cats (and sometimes dogs) move in and out of wild populations where genetic issues are either diluted or kittens / pups dont survive to breed and pass it on, let alone have stronger immune systems. Inbreeding that exists in purebreds gently caress immune systems up and that is why hybrid vigor is truly a thing - the wider the potential genetic pool, the less chance a problem is passed on and the more chance a strong immune system is accquired. Frankly gently caress breeders because all they are doing is creating inbred little monsters that have so many genetic issues it's a wonder they can survive.
