Also that one liner is lovely and mean, even for Bond. He usually isn’t that nasty towards his love interests deaths.

It happens a lot because almost every modern Bond movie is a response to the last one.

QoS got a middling response and Skyfall responded to that. Can Bond exist in a world where half the cool poo poo that made Bond Bond is what everyone movie has now? If you do it just right, yes.

Then they hosed it up with Spectre. This last one will be about making amends in some way.

Everyone betrays everyone in that movie. It's double crosses all the way down.

Also it's the best Bond romance period. And the best Bond movie. So I dunno.

I think it's because at the time I thought Felix and Mathis were the same person. So yeah, I'll take that back, without that confusion it makes more sense.

Broadly I think it's incredibly unsatisfying to have Le Chiffre get killed by a third party that's almost entirely uninvolved with the film. Yes they're about, but there's no resonance in his defeat. It's just a thing.

I mean sure, I'll happily agree with that, but that doesn't make it compelling. I'm not invested in the romance by the end of the movie in any meaningful way. So it's as throwaway as any other Bond romance and takes away from what I'm paying to see which is brutal toilet fights.

This is the best Bond because it's different.

Goldfinger is the quintessential Bond film regardless how you feel about it.

From Russia with Love is better but I’ll be honest, I watch Dr. No the most out of the Connery’s. I love how mean he is. “That’s a Smith & Wesson, and you’ve had your six.”

Goldfinger is important. Good or bad, it’s basically everything every Bond movie took from until Casino. But then they went back to that well in Skyfall.

I’d but it 3rd for Connery flicks.

Nah. Goldfinger is rapey as hell and it doesn't really tell a good story. The go-tos are From Russia With Love and GoldenEye and I suppose maybe Casino Royale.

I'm not talking about good or bad metrics here. I'm talking about Goldfinger's place in the series.

He wasn't grumbling about it, he talked how he rather slit his wrists before doing another bond movie. At this point most Craig movies have been complete production disasters, so nobody is making tons of money out of this beyond advertising money which only needs the brand and a good looking dude in a suit.

Edit:It seems that Craig is being paid 25 million dollars just for the movie, and up to 100 million dollars from the movie revenue. Guess his the one making the tons of money.

Imagine working a really really long and tiring shift at work, where you had to deal with a ton of stuff you didn't expect, and everthing kept piling, and the moment you clock out, someone says "Hey, you ready to do it again tomorrow!?"

I'd imagine the film won't take that long to shoot. Smaller films usually bang them out in a month or less. But I do hope they take a minute and find a director to make this actually good. Instead of grabbing some random hack like they kept doing in the Brosnan years
