I'd be interested in the specifics. Hip Dysplasia and Luxating Patellas are pretty treatable and relatively common things. Like you say, luxating patellas are indeed surgery like..the vast majority of the time. Hip Dysplasia has a Lot of different treatments and I'd definitely do physical rehab for a dog with it if I had cash to throw around.
