So I was listening to Lane Sainty and Alice Workman"s podcast and apparently Centrelink aren't going to backdate claims any more. So if you put a claim in today and it takes them a month to process it, you don't get paid from today to when they process it. Which begs the question: Do they want Centrelink workers to get bashed?

My immediate instinct is that they can't make you work on a non-paid break. I'd also forward the phone bit to the relevant union.

What JAAACK might not know, or care to know, is that two Australian attempts to build coal power stations already failed this decade.

After blowing through $188m in grants, cost estimates for a small carbon capture and storage coal power station in Queensland ballooned to $6.9bn. In 2011 the project, aptly named ZeroGen, was mercifully taken out the back and shot.

A proposed Latrobe Valley power station was allocated 1bn tonnes of coal in 2002, and despite securing grants of $150m, muddled along before the project, HRL Dual Gas, finally fell over in 2015.

A new coal power project would hang as an albatross around the neck of the commissioning party. For at least three protest-filled terms of government, the project would become a focal point for a “next-level” Adani-style protest movement – all before the plant generated its first, expensive, polluting kilowatt-hour. Not going to happen.

More at the link, which I've linked because there are a couple of nice pictures and a lovely graph.

Also, I'd like to take a moment to tell my brother he was wrong, Solar Panels are perfectly useful form of electricity generation and a great way to reduce our impact on climate change. Neener neener neener.

Even the loving oil states like the UAE are saying we have to cut greenhouse emissions and go to green energy. The LNP just have their heads in the sand for no fathomable reason other than 'owning the libs'.

In a decision handed down on Monday, AAT deputy president Gary Humphries and Dr Bernard Hughson found that Banerji's sacking had "unacceptably trespassed" on the implied freedom of political communication and was unlawful.

The fact Banerji's tweets were anonymous effectively stripped away the justification for the Australian Public Service (APS) code of conduct – that is, protecting the impartiality of the APS – that Banerji had contravened, the AAT found.

"A comment made anonymously cannot rationally be used to draw conclusions about the professionalism or impartiality of the public service," Humphries and Hughson wrote.

The decision also noted that "powerful and persuasive justification" is needed for any law that displaces the implied freedom of political communication.

Good. The speech restrictions on public servants are increasingly ridiculous.

This is in the context of ASIC's concern that some firms were taking on too many clients for the number of planners.

Ms Perkovic struggles to provide a clear answer.

"Naaah f**k him, I want to lock the c**t up. He made us wait."

Mr Gibbons alleged when he asked what authority they had to require entry, that officer pointed to his gun and said: "See this, this is my authority to enter."

"When we tell you to do something, you don't ask questions. You f**king do it!

"Hell, we can put a bullet in your f***in' head and get a medal," the officer allegedly said to Mr Gibbons.

Mr Gibbons claims another officer said his mobile recording was "easily remedied", adding, "sounds like he needs to learn some respect", before shining his flashlight into the phone camera.

An officer demanded the phone and grabbed it before Mr Gibbons was wrestled to the ground and handcuffed.
