Not great, but better. The other trailer is dire. Everything about it—from the stiff puppetry to the over-the-top raunchy humor—just looks off.

Wheat Loaf posted:Something I've been wondering lately; does anyone suppose there are people who actually like when trailers do this and want to go into a movie knowing more or less how it's going to go without any danger of their expectations being upset? Or so they can feel clever when they watch it because they know what's coming? In college, I knew a guy who would read through the Wikipedia synopsis of every movie before he’d watch it. It used to drive me insane.

The first forty-five seconds of that trailer make the movie look really dire but the rest of it is actually... pretty cute? I’m conflicted. e: Have the Pokémon always been depicted as being that hairy? QuoProQuid fucked around with this message at 18:31 on Nov 12, 2018 |

I am curious whether Pokemon has permeated enough into the popular culture discourse that it gets treated like a superhero film or whether it gets torn to shreds by a bunch of overeager middle-aged critics immediately upon release.SomeJazzyRat posted:No but yes. Traditionally, due to hardware and budget limitations, they've always been vacuum packed smooth critters (barring a fuzzy flourish for aesthetic reasons). But the intention was always that they were animals, complete with secret fuzz and fur whenever accurate. It's just that, up until this movie, depictions have been strictly limited to the budget friendly vinyl doll type depictions. Hm. I guess I always imagined them looking more Muppet-like than animal-like. QuoProQuid fucked around with this message at 01:21 on Nov 13, 2018 |

clown shoes posted:Downton Abbey teaser I only watched season 1 of Downton Abbey but, from my recollection, the show centered on the rapid decline of the landed aristocracy due to their inability to adapt to a changing world, with the house patriarch leading his family into near financial ruin, his children sabotaging one another's chances at happiness, and the servants realizing they could abandon the manor to seek other opportunities. Also, I think the first season ended with World War I and a suggestion that the family would be annihilated by it? Am I misremembering or did the show abandon those ideas?

Happy Noodle Boy posted:Passengers issue wasn’t the cast it was the whole loving story. Also it was originally was going to be a Keanu Reeves movie and be more of a psychological horror without a female co-star I think. Someone here mentioned it last time it was discussed, but Passengers would have worked a lot better as a horror story from the perspective of Lawrence’s character that builds up to the revelation that there was no technical error and Pratt released her intentionally. Then again, that’s basically rewriting the entire movie.
