It's really easy to return to Amazon though, at least for me, so might as well guarantee you get it and then if you change your mind send it back. What gets me though is lots of places send preorders weeks in advance and I don't like waiting.

I just saw Robocop 2 was $33 on Amazon so snagged that today would like the shout slip but it's $20 more not sure it's really worth it.

People are getting Killer Klowns early and saying there's a hiccup on the audio so probably going to be replacement discs going out.

Hell, I'm surprised they are promoting that. It goes against the trend of studios/directors/actors denying they even used any CGI when their movies are loving loaded to the brim with it. I wouldn't have been shocked to see them on junkets insisting they used real talking apes.

Glad to hear it, I was waiting before I put down my preorder.

They've decided that the point where even more normal people than those who have shelves of blu rays are noticing how bad streaming is, is also the point where they need to stop producing physical content is what it seems like to me.

My number one annoyance with Amazon recently is that you explicitly have to type in “Blu-ray” or “UHD” with a movie’s name or else it tries to give you results from Prime. It would be fine if Prime came up first and then the physical copies, but it buries all the physical copies in the results in favor of unrelated stuff on Prime.

The best luck I have is just search for movie title, then in the left sidebar there's a Department filter which will have Prime Video and Movies & Films, select the latter, then it bypasses all the prime video poo poo.

Yeah, and you can pop open the filters on mobile as well. It’s just not as intuitive as it might be.

Just got an email about the Andor set. Now it says delayed until May 27th to June 26th. That said I’m going to be out of town on and off for a bit so I cancelled my order yesterday and redid the preorder sending it to my mom’s house. So probably sent myself to the back of the queue.

I think it's more about them(the companies/studios) tightening up on production and trying to really make sure that they sell what they produce, because they can't depend on big box stores like Best Buy anymore to gradually sell through old stock over the course of months or years. So that leads to lots of situations where preorders outpace their projections and you get delays because they were trying to be very precise with how many discs they manufactured.

Maybe I just haven’t gotten the email yet, but the Amazon app says my Andor set is arriving on 5/9.

If you're looking for Andor, check out Walmart. It's like 10 bucks cheaper and available now. I'm picking mine up tomorrow after work.

It also appears that pre-ordering a billion copies now and selling them for 100 dollars on ebay is something the scalpers have leaned extremely heavily into. You can't pre-order the walmart exclusive steelbook of The Crow because it's now 'out of stock' but you can find at least 15 accounts selling "10 or more" quantity pre-orders on secondhand sites. It seems to be getting worse and it's complete bullshit.

When Amazon announced that Prime Video was going to have commercials I quit and I didn't really regret it at all, because I barely use it for shipping anyway- they've kinda let the whole "buying things online" part go to seed, there's issues with unreliable product listings, various intermediary sellers, etc. Buying discs from publisher sales and other sites has been enough for me 90% of the time.

My understanding is that they make most of their money through AWS so the direct retail part is less important. I love it when companies have no idea what they want to actually be good at.

If it gets me When Evil Lurks, I'll take it

VS's month of releases (Riddle of Fire was the one I predicted from the teaser, everything else is already known/was already available for preorder during a pre-sale):
Riddle of Fire
Navy Seals 4K
China O'Brien 1 and 2 double feature
Homegrown Horrors vol 3 (Revenge, Hauntedween and Deadly Love)
Dangerous Game

Partner labels:
The Amityville Curse
Brooklyn 45
Game of Pleasure
Houseboat Horror
L'important c'est d'Aimer (That Most Important Thing: Love)
The Old Ones
Samurai Wolf 1 and 2 double feature
Slope's Game Room: Cult Movies, Shows and Classic Comics
Streetwise
Ultramegalopolis
Vacation!
Without Name

The best partner label day in a while imo; Brooklyn 45 and the Samurai Wolfs rule, Streetwise looks cool, and there's a Lovecraft film (The Old Ones), a Zulawski film (That Most Important Thing: Love), and an Amityville knockoff!

They have a cheaper version that's just the movie and slip they do the same thing with all their expensive sets and conveniently bury the other one deeper on the page.

The cheaper ones will also be on Orbit and probably other places only the collectors edition is Umbrella exclusive.

This might be just my opinion but I have a bunch of Umbrella titles and their slipcovers feel extremely cheap and not worth whatever premium I've paid for them. The most recent example of this is Tank Girl, which feels as cheap as whatever Shout Factory uses.
