Is there a discount season at amazon.co.uk, similar to Thanksgiving sales in US? I have an expensive order of blu-ray collections (Tarkovsky, Varda, Andersson) sitting in a cart basket; would love to save several bucks quid.

What's the direct link to the Black Friday UHD deals at Best Buy? For some reason I'm not seeing any movies on their Black Friday Ad page.

I would recommend getting a backlight strip. The impulse purchase I made after watching Hold The Dark enhanced by reflections of myself and a couch lamp turned out to be the best impulse purchase I ever made.

Quick reminder: their Godzilla box is out on 10/29, and, being a pre-order, is probably not a part of this flash sale.

The Sacrifice is available on Kino, and it looks stunning.

Also, given the small number of films he has, a boxset would be a hard sell since a lot of your audience already has his films.

UK got this, among other interesting boxsets: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sculpting-Time-Tarkovsky-Collection-Blu-ray/dp/B074ZXQ226/

But they have to import Criterion editions from us, so that evens things out somewhat. Also people in this very thread constantly double- and triple-dip when a movie they like gets another release.

Just to clarify, I'm not complaining or trying to change anyone's mind about anything, it's just that Mirror in better quality was always my dream. I have it on DVD, and I would definitely buy a Criterion edition.

Either way it's awesome and I want to try and get more information. Can any of you fine folks point me towards a thread here or some other pocket of the internet that could help?

I don’t like slipcases but the Steelbook/slipcase combo for Ghost in the Shell 4K is pretty slick. It’s made of a hard plastic instead of regular slipcase cardboard or whatever, and parts of it are transparent so the steelbook’s artwork lines up with slipcase art creating a new image. It’s a pretty cool effect.
