Nourikas always rules. No reason not to take him in Onyx. He smoked a Zeta in suppressive by cybermasking and running behind it. Suryat is a good Onyx LT pick and gives two extra orders to Nourikas and the Nexus.

Don't be fatuous, Jeffrey. The skullskuller and the bloodbloodurator are two completely different units. The new models do suffer a bit for not having Giraldez on call, though.

Very hype for an Anath. A lot of the sculpts feel like they've gone very Warhammery with swords poses, but I suppose its been there for years.

The point is with most warhammer sculpts they're pretty distinct from each other and their generally more cartoony design aesthetic helps with this. Infinity though have a lot of guys that look like generic sci-fi specops operators - some factions like Haqq are particularly bad about it. At least Ariadna have their space Scots and PanO have their various flavours of space knights and Combined Army look like something out of 40k anyway. However what's a Barzam or a Hassasin or Bashi Bazouk - the name says nothing about them (even if you run them through wikipedia). At least with space marines you can see guys with guns, guys with swords and guys with nerf guns. Here it's all just guys with similar looking sci-fi guns. I buy Infinity minis but if I want to know what I've bought after the fact I gotta look for the receipt and start GIS.

USARF is the worst offender in that regard. Which of these dudes in tactical gear with the same guns is which unit? Bet you guessed wrong!

On the one hand Haqq has the undoubtedly most visually distinctive Infinity model of all, on the other hand the name "Maghariba Guard" doesn't actually tell you that you're looking for a giant loving scorpion. And I'd say that's overstating what's happening in WH, in 40k in particular about 90% of new sculpts are "big guy with generic gun whose name begins with I and ends with R." But in general point taken, I'm really grateful the game is generous about proxies because like, come on man I'm just gonna use whatevers coolest looking with the right S value.

Vanilla CA are still in a pretty good place even if the heady days of Avatar terror are behind us. I am up against a Varuna player for Last Launch, managed to get a practice game yesterday, having never played the mission before, and funnily enough it was also against a Varuna player! Which happened to be Masloo, who is also very good and got me 6-0 in the end. I basically had an incredible run of crits which let me eventually batter through his helots and two Kamau snipers, despite his excellent play and some initial problems. However it all ended up with me having one specialist extracted (an EVAder) and with his last Order, having had to dodge a Koala on the way, he extracted a Zulu Cobra, who turned out to be 28 points! Interesting mission and I learned a lot. Cat Face Joe posted:If you missed TAGRAID and want in, looks like it goes on sale January 15. Can honestly say I'm not tempted. Bought the YJ Prospector and Nomads hacker secondhand, not too interested in most of the models.

TAG Raid is a pretty fun game on its own. The events keep things pretty fresh and it's fun to see what tools you get while trying to complete your contracts alongside the mission itself. It's a nice way to get something Infinity-ish when you might not have the time or brainpower for an actual N4 game.

But TBH I rather fancy that in a meta where more and more missions are being unlocked, by skilled players with tuned lists, as 'Annihilation with extra steps'. I have a few thoughts, having at least tried it once, about controlling the room itself, and just concentrating on getting specialists out rather than exposing them to risk. Cat Face Joe posted:Lost Lunch is all about getting your EVO bot zooped up and keeping your opponent from zooping up their EVO bot. Well this was my theory, and (I was going first) I positioned my EVO bot ready to use 2 Orders and run straight into space. But I reckoned without Helots. My opponent had one to ARO the EVO bot, and I failed two separate Discover/Shoot Orders to clear the threat, and he declined other opportunities to ARO my fighting units. So it didn't do me any good and the EVO bot got swept up easily in his first turn. But, to be fair, against an army without camouflaged AROs, or if I had simply been luckier in those particular roles, the EVO would have worked out fine. I am thinking, in the IGL games, even if it detracts from a first turn alpha, get some specialists up and away. Especially against Varuna, I just need to ruthlessly hunt and kill a couple key specialists (probably zulu cobras) and occupy the midfield. Maybe easier said than done.

I'm not bringing an EVO bot, just death (hopefully). Anathematic should also be very good at the mission.

Yeah Anathematic is a superb piece for it, maybe the best in the game. Something like a Stigmaton would be good as well, or a Daofei/Swiss Guard type hacker. If you can get one model into space, and it's worth more than any 2 of your opponent's specialists, you're going to be hard to beat.
