/r/RaisedByNarcissists helped me see my parents for what they are, flawed human beings that I expected too much from when I was a kid. The subreddit helped me with some coping mechanisms like setting up boundaries and self help talk and led me to therapy which helped even more. The thing about that subreddit is you need to stop going to it if you want to leave that stuff behind. It's like picking at an old wound, it'll only heal if you move on. Some people make it their identity that they were raised by narcissists and then they become the people they hate.

The users of my city's subreddit are all shits Lot's of native americans deserve to be poo poo on posters, people complaining about liberals for some reason, people complaining about how a transphobic radio host got kicked off his show It's also weirdly cliquey with in jokes and memes The city police department has an official account on it too and he always jumps in to defend whatever the police are doing or giving unsolicited advice on things while being condescending

I think Reddit is just a place to train bots Go on r/all and look at one of the top post's comments and you'll always get the same canned responses If it's a heartwarming post: "I'm not crying, your crying" If it's a negative post: "I'm gonna get downvoted for this but..." + "Here come the downvotes" + "Of course the liberal/conservative majority REDDIT downvotes me!" + "This only proves I'm right" If it's a positive post: "Take my upboat" If it's a generic post: "Thought this might fit here"

You can tell Sam Harris is a grift because he's all about Enlightenment and oneness until someone says the word Islam. Then he gets murder in his eyes and forgets that "we are all one" and that there is now an "other" than conveniently is so evil that you can condemn their entire group. I used to listen to his podcast after reading his book "Waking Up", which was about meditation, spirituality, psychedelics, baby's first intro to eastern religion, all that fun stuff. The tonal whiplash I got from skipping from Podcast #1 to Podcast #21312 where he's talking about preemptively nuking an entire religion is just insane. Like the dude did not understand all the stuff he was "teaching" in his book about waking up and realizing we shouldn't be fighting others because we perceive them as different. He truly believes there is an islamic boogieman coming for him. I guarantee he was watching the metrics of viewers and when he mentioned bombing Islamic people the view count went through the roof and the money started coming in faster. Same thing with Peterson. Once they get a taste of greed, all the rhetoric they claimed to follow gets thrown out.
