I still think it's funny that one of the most genuine and sincere comic book films of the last few years ended up being loving deadpool.

Suicide Squad completely bungled the joke of offing Slipknot at the beginning and then running into a bunch of problems that could be solved with fancy rope-tying skills but I trust Deadpool to handle it better.
Even worse, he was shown to be "the grappling hook guy", and their mission was to climb a tall building. It was right there.

Kind of the whole deal with Deadpool is that superheroes are no fun if they're not taking at least some of the silly poo poo seriously enough that you can make good jokes. And the core of the character is sincere passion, deep sadness and both emotional and physical pain from having a tragic and brutal backstory to match any X-Man, and attempting to engage with others even as he mocks them.

I was surprised that they're playing Cable as the antagonist and basically the Terminator, but it's surprisingly fitting. And it seems like he can almost give as good as he gets when it comes to mocking Deadpool.

Well, supposedly according to leaks, Cable is going to end up on the heroes' side by the end - the real villain is Black Tom Cassidy.

Sometimes, in a city this dirty, you need a real hero.

I wonder if they'll ever make deadpool 3 and focus it around the Mithras storyline (now that Marvel has the world ready for Cosmic poo poo).

I'd love for them to adapt it (as far as i'm concerned it's the storyline that shot him into huge popularity) but i wonder if it's too dark and grim a place to take the movie version of Deadpool. I'm also not really sure how they'd be able to squeeze all the major plot points into just one film as well.

this is 1000000% why they hired Celine Dion. If Suicide Squad can get an Oscar, so can Deadpool dammit.

Also (big ol' fuckin' spoilers for Deadpool 2 I'm dead serious don't click this poo poo if you want to go in blind) she and Deadpool have something in common: they both lost their spouse/loved one (because Monica Baccarin bites it at the beginning of the movie, from what I am told). It's kinda funny that Ashes is a very serious song but there's a weird level of emotional value to it both on the movie side and the singer's side.

On the one hand, if this is true, it's pretty sad because she was funny and I liked her.

On the other hand, does this mean Colossus could potentially be Deadpools new love interest? Please tell me it means that.

Low-key marketing makes me wonder if their uncertainty, and the risk of a prequel of an iconic character with a different actor, means they're trying not to overexpose it and get people sick of it. Which is probably also because it's shaping up to be a flop, but wondering to what degree.

Solo is currently the second-most pre-sold movie of the year FYI. There’s no way in hell it’s going to flop. It’ll probably “flop” in the same way BvS did where it’ll still make a ludicrous fuckton of money but won’t meet an ever-shifting series of goalposts.

It apparently is. Reynolds recently gave an interview where he doesn’t think a third DP movie is likely since you can’t really “ take everything away from someone at the start of the film” three times in a row. But that might also be a cover for the co-writer turning out to be terroristic threat making violent rapist

I'm heading towards the same point. I found TFA and TLJ perfectly pleasant, but haven't rewatched them. Rogue One is kind of impressive to see how bloody long the climactic battle is and how much energy it maintains, but I doubt I'll rewatch it all the way through. Though this may simply be a function of getting older.

In the trailer I've seen two versions of the taxi scene with Domino in the back seat, one where DP says "...and that's why the manbun is a millennial mullet" while other is "...and that's why Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants is pure pornography" so I wonder which one they're going with.

Could be both or even none. DIdn't they say that jokes in the trailer aren't necessarily going to be in the movie?

I saw it today, it's great, better than the first I'd say. There's a lot of references to other Marvel movies and just hollywood in general, and the mid credits scene is probably one of the funniest that's ever been done.

Don't know if it's better than the first, but, yeah, it's good. You can tell they had a bigger budget, way more action. Really enjoyed the X-Force.
