Did I OD on shrooms? Years ago there was a guy who came up with the idea of doing what I would call what Mystery Science Theater 3000 but cutting out all of the boring bits of movie in question that couldn't support any good jokes. This guy made a few bad decisions, most notably misrepresenting what he was doing as some kind of legitimate critical analysis, and slowly shifting the focus of his 'reviews' to be about the persona he adopted. He builds a website up, taking on new talent and then for whatever reason, the website is torn apart by internal politics recently. Recently Brad, a content creator who was probably the 'Cinema Snob' famous among fans as having the best 'critical analysis' skills of website, finally quits. Prior to this, Leal, a poster on Something Awful, declares that, if Brad did quit 'Channel Awesome', he would undertake a Toxxx vow, either agreeing to play a game he didn't want to or have the mods ban his account. See, SA is unique among websites in that it, due to one annoying poster in the early 2000s has a forums paywall, where registering an account requires paying a small fee, thus being banned has real consequences. The game in question was any one of the Hyperdimension Neptunia, a series of video games about video game consoles and companies turned into anthropomorphic personifications do stuff. These personifications, are due to various complex issues of sexuality and gender, scantily young women. The specific game was one in the Cyberdimension sub-series, wherein four personifications playtest a fictional video game inside the 'hyperdimension' the fiction universe of the HN series. Have I missed anything?

I'm okay with the concept, the problem is Idea Factory won't do anything fun or wild with it. This already feels like someone there went "hey people like SAO, right?" Oh, and we probably already saw like 20% of the art assets in this game and I bet about half of them came from previous games.

Alright live reactions from the first Episode of the Nep anime: It starts with the 4 girls in their super saiyajin forms. Neptune looks like an adult in this form. When each girl is introduced, Blanc, Noire and Neptunia have a group of Important NPCs (You can tell because they look unique) however Vert does not. When she is announced her tits bounce, in spite of the fact that an overview shot happens and shows 4 groups of people, surely one for each console. Also I'm sure there is a Phantasy Star Online reference at the start. The girls declare they will not use their military to take shares from one another, I presume shares are like company shares. How much cooler would the games industry be irl if EA just hired a bunch of thugs to light up Activision HQ? The girls have an after party where they return to their normal forms. Vert's tits jiggle again, with a sound effect. In spite of the fact shares are to now be increased by the actions of helping their own nation instead of stealing it from other nations through the military, Neptune is lazy and playing video games. But wait, aren't they video games? Do they play their own consoles? Anyways the jpop intro starts that I skipped over. Two characters are shown, who were part of Nep's Important NPC crew, named Compa (oh I get it) and Iffy (I think I get it) and they bump into Important Plot NPC, you can tell she is important because she is voiced, looks distinct and her hair is animated. As an aside, I notice all the background NPCs are also women. I actually went back to the start to look at the people behind the non important NPCs and they're all women. Also I realize I'm using the term NPC for an anime, well it loving counts cause its all in a video game! Anyways Plot NPC gives a paper of Plot to Iffy and Compa. We are then brought into a dark room with a power symbol and streams of data. Honestly... it looks kinda cool. What isn't cool is the lolicon fairy that pops down and says "Hey,

The writing got better as the series went on, though that just made all the <LINE TO SHOW CHARACTER IS TSUNDERE HERE> feel even more jarring. The gameplay always seemed bad-to-mediocre though. Feinne could only do so much.

You (perhaps jokingly) suggest someone do multiplayer with you; if you'd like to experience it, hit me up, we can try desperately to get it to work. That said, the real reason no one is doing multiplayer isn't because no one is playing the game, it's because the multiplayer is fuuucked. First off, there are 8 lobbies. You can't control which one you are in. You can't TELL which one you are in. You just are in one. Only other people in that lobby can join you, and only then if they have the same mission unlocked you are attempting to recruit for. Going into and out of multiplayer doesn't appear to readily fix or reset this, either, although strangely running a mission can; this might mean you can try desperately to get into the same lobby as your friend and fail, then finally get into the "correct" lobby only to lose it when you are done running the mission. This is before you take into account that the netcode for online play is buggy as gently caress. You have two options: you can't play this game, or the person who joins you can't play this game. I think you should experience it at least once, so you can see just why no one bothers, outside of on occasion locking a room so they can run missions for specific drops.

Oh yeah, I watched PSG. I love crude, mean spirited humor and it satisfied that itch perfectly. Even better is that anime people really hate it because the art style looks western and don't declare it a real anime. Also the music was pretty good. And now I know about Doujin. If only Nep explained that to me, I mean the game has a tutorial about everything else

If you want Vert to quit being so loving retarded, you need to manually change her abilities to better suit the field you're gonna be on. Speaking of Anime, Legend of the Galactic Heroes is in the process of getting a remake (subtitled Die Neue These.) Based on the three episodes I've seen, it looks good and has solid pacing at the cost of ignoring a lot of the background worldbuilding that the novels and original anime had. Also, at the rate it's going (it's been greenlit for 12 episodes) it will very likely have additional seasons. Also, holy gently caress it is dubbed, and competently too at that. I may keep my VRV subscription just to see it until the end. I watch more anime than I should admit but less than I did a decade ago. A lot of what I do have the time for just ends up being disappointing. There was a remake of my all time favorite series of all time, Kino's Journey, which increased the pacing at the cost of losing some of the heft of the content and also made me ask the question "If this is Kino's Journey, why the gently caress are we spending a quarter of these episodes on people that aren't named Kino?" You mention Ghost Stories, which is only good because of that English dubbed ("Luckily I can read barricade") and Panty and Stocking (Which I didn't hate; definitely highly stylized). I'm also partial to Log Horizon, which is kind of watching an anime Let's Play of Everquest 2 only it's a bunch of people stuck in the game and instead of Norrath it's post apocalyptic high fantasy Japan. If you die, but your NPCs don't, you don't necessarily die. They have to have a way to revive you though. If you can't be revived, then it's game over, you don't just go back to town. I hate that I know so much about this game. Should I force myself to beat it, or just uninstall and hope you do? Play whomever you want. I play as the thief, because she's ranged, which means I don't have to worry about lovely melee combat. Although for some loving reason as she shoots she moves towards her target. For gently caress's sake, that's not how ranged combat works.
