BEST BRAWLER This one is for the slobberknockers, the bowling-shoes ugly, the men tougher than a $2 dollar steak. The Bruiser Brody Memorial was a fascinating category to track over the years, because you can see a clear dividing line between different eras. From old-school tough guys, to ECW originals and their imitators, to death match specialists, and to the modern-era hosses that do a little of everything, there's something here for everyone to enjoy. -- Foley's hip and brain (and everything else, really) died for the No. 1 spot. I hope you're all grateful. -- Brody is still near the top of the list after all these years. That's pretty drat impressive. -- Steen has always been great, but even I'm surprised at how high he finished here. His WWE run has gone as well as could've been hoped for with his, er, proportions. -- If you started watching New Japan in the past 3-4 years, you probably don't have a high opinion of Makabe today (raises hand). But his prime work is well worth checking out. -- This list all but confirms that Terry Gordy was easily the best worker in the Fabulous Freebirds. -- Hey, Undertaker finally gets some voter love. That 2008 feud with Edge is probably his best run of the decade. -- I don't care how high he placed, TNA stans will never convince me that Abyss was good. -- My heart grew three sizes when I saw Aja Kong show up on multiple ballots. The women did pretty well here, with Kong, Mayumi Ozaki, Lioness Asuka, Bull Nakano, and Awesome Kong all showing up. -- Let the record show that I'm on my sixth category and this is the first time Roman Reigns has appeared. KungFu Grip posted:i'm trying to figure out how benoit fits in the best brawler/striker Before he became a famed murderer/bra wearer his most notable quality were his strikes. His chops were basically the standard of the late 90s and 2000s. The matches that broke him out as a star (to the fans) in WCW were the brawls with Kevin Sullivan, and shortly after that feud ended he was feuding with Raven. Those produced two really great brawls. He was a guy who could do it all, but his chops were legendary at the time.

I have memories of him and Finlay just clobbering each other in 06 or 07 and it being great. Finlay is also a great brawler. And I've always had an intense fondness for Necro.

BEST FLYING WRESTLER It kinda feels like "flippy guy" is a derogatory term these days, or at least paints a certain picture -- guy who does tons of cool moves, never sells, has no charisma, that sort of thing. It's a bad stereotype for a lot of reasons (and gets super-racial-coded when talking about Mexican or Japanese wrestlers), but here's a dirty secret -- some of the best in-ring storytellers in the business are the high flyers. They're naturally the ones with the most to prove, and as you can see from the top of this list, the best of the best are absolute masters at connecting with crowds. Of course, there's also a lot of indie geeks here who had a hot few years and then disappeared, but that's beside the point. Don't sleep on the flippy guys -- they're the secret weapon needed for a healthy and thriving promotion. -- As expected, Rey runs the table. It's crazy to think about his super longevity in the business -- not only did he start out at such a young age, he was already so good and kept getting better. Dude is still going 25 years later and can still have great matches (well, as long as he works a light schedule to save his knees). Arguably the best cruiserweight wrestler of all time. -- I say "arguably" because Liger was loving mind-blowing back in his day, and is also still having good matches in 2018. A true living legend in every sense. -- Speaking of longevity, Ricochet is already third place and doesn't turn 30 years old until October Dude has a Hall of Fame resume even if he spends the rest of his career farting around on 205 Live. -- Matt Sydal's had a really strange career arc, from his hot indie run to WWE purgatory to getting fired from New Japan for not being smart about his weed. The talent is obviously there, but I do wonder how many bridges he has left. -- Jack Evans is a guy who really sneaks up on you. I didn't discover him until he showed up on Lucha Underground and was like "wow this guy is awesome." Turns out I was super late on that bandwagon -- I almost totally hosed this up by listing the original Tiger Mask for extra years, before remembering that Misawa started his career under the mask. Thanks for omitting that "II" part, aggregate site. -- Poor Gran Metalik is so underrated he's even underrated on the best flyer category Up Next: Most Overrated I'm sure this won't be controversial at all! Luger also gets a lot of "love" here. -- We all like the Big Show now, but I haven't forgotten the "please retire" chants from just a few years ago. That was a pretty rough run. -- This is probably the highest Roman will ever place on a WON list, and boy is he gunning for it once again in 2018. -- I never got the Ryback love, ironic or not, but at least voters knew what's up. Ryback sucked. -- Cena finished shockingly low for a guy who spent a solid decade as the poster boy for Everything Smarks Hate About WWE. -- Remember when Sexy Star was just a mediocre wrestler overpushed by AAA/LU and then decided to become a shoot master out of nowhere? What a weird-rear end run that ended up being. -- Who the gently caress voted for Earthquake I will cut you Up Next: Most Underrated AKA "Please push some good wrestlers for once"
