It's 'here are the choices those in power have deliberately made, and how those choices have had unforeseen consequences' or other aspects of 'Here are the factors that have shaped our perceptions.' thats why i say aesthetically similar though, curtis enjoys telling us these stories as though they ARE done conspiratorially, but yea mostly for dramatic effect and cohesiveness
