Pretty great, actually. Goes down smooth, and gives you a good buzz. I’m not a fan of cinammon anything, but I didn’t have any trouble with it. They’re waiting for approval on the next bottle. Mignola does the art, then they do the logo treatment, and then it’s back to Dark Horse for final approval. Supposedly, they’re also working on a Sin City whiskey.

If Sin City whiskey isn't the bitterest thing ever distilled, they've hosed up.

I don't have an issue with people drawing or living off porn stuff, as long as it's not like, pokemon porn or whatever. But you can definitely be a dick about drawing porn, like Frank Cho. And some dudes like Bruce Timm kinda let their kinks seep into their regular work a bit, which can certainly be criticized.

Lost received universal acclaim and was widely considered to be the exemplar and starting point of "the golden age of television"

Of course, as the show continued people realized that none of the mysteries were going to have satisfying answers which retroactively made the whole thing poo poo, but that happened later.

Exactly. So just give The Leftovers a few more seasons.

I enjoyed Ultimate Spider-man but it's true that binging through it, the cumulative amount of misery heaped upon Peter gets a bit much. Almost every story is the worst thing that's ever happened to him, with very few "relief" stories in between. JM Dematteis is often accused of having taken Spider-man to overly dark places, but those stories usually had a catharsis or growth at the end of them, and few of Bendis' stories even have that. Then it the end it kind of started to lose cohesion, and we got the usual dissatisfying payoffs to long running threads that I consider a Bendis trademark (Such as Roxxon, which had been built up for about a hundred issues, being taken down when one bi-polar business man gets beat up).

Overall it's still a very good comic and I'd recommend it to most fans of Spider-man.

Stuff like that always makes me sad because it seems to imply that comics work isn't fulfilling creative work and if they could, most creators would rather work in the more popular, lucrative fields of television and Hollywood.

Hard to blame someone from wanting a bigger audience and more money, but if you love comics for comics' sake, it's a little disheartening.

I mean I know very few people in animation or comics who think they're healthy or lucrative industries. But that's more to do with socio economic factors and how little artists are valued than the medium itself.

I think that if comic book creators maintained a degree of control and were guaranteed a cut of derivative works based off their comics, the way manga artists do and are, they'd be better off

Right but the other problem in the comics industry is indie people killing themselves working 6+ days a week on top of a day job to make bunkus on low selling stuff, and following the manga model is the opposite way to solve that.
