It's nasty stuff. Bizarrely, the closely related Persian hogweed grows like crazy all over Arctic Norway after someone imported it as an ornamental. So much so that it's locally known as the "Tromsø palm". The recommended folk remedy after coming in contact with it is to thoroughly wash the skin, stay out of the sun, and have an ice cream.
