Cheating at a raffle? I sentence you to 1 year in jail! No! Two years! Three! Four! Five years! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah!
Somebody call for an ant?

I wonder how effective going after lugia with as minimal a team possible and then stocking yourself with revival herbs and literally using his team to wall itself would work. Would be a kind of thematic way to end the snag games.

As I mentioned earlier, XD changed things around so that Shadow Pokemon aren't actually added to your collection until you win the battle.

Huh, weird, usually I find my thread on page 3 or 4 by the time I'm ready to post a new update...

The catch rates absolutely have to be boosted, catching all the various Gen 3 legends was pretty loving miserable for most of them, so it makes a lot of sense if Lugia isn't boosted in the same way. In that case, you should definitely use the Master Ball on it, if you can catch the rest of them really easily. Still, I only really did it so that Lugia was more of a set piece and you could see what it does if you even want to do that strategy yourself, whereas Moltres was similar to the other birds, gets sent out on the first turn, so you can just catch it without really thinking about it, and it had really high SpAtk, so it could deal a lot of damage.

Part 17: Orre You Serious?

Pokemon HQ Lab

Gah! Well that seems to be the way to start the postgame.

Oh yeah, I forgot we had a sister. Well, no need to talk to her ever again.

You can find out about this Battle CD at the start of the game. Now is when we can finally obtain it. Of course there's postgame CDs!

I panicked and sent the E-MAIL before I finished it, but I'm glad to hear that you've received it! Well, that's not important. I was inspired by your battle exploits, DAVID, you see. It made me want to have a battle with you. That said, DAVID, there are countless TRAINERS that would be honored to battle with CIPHER's nemesis. I therefore decided to take charge and organize a COLOSSEUM event. Impressed? But before we talk, we must battle, you and I. En garde!

Trainer Battle

Well this is a more impressive team than when we last fought him. Uh, for the most part, Pichu are not threats.

Neither are the Pikachu really, since they're so fragile. But they have Light Balls, so their one attack is gonna hurt. Don't get too excited either, Thief doesn't permanently steal items in these games.

The Raichu are a bit tricky, since they're 10 levels higher than us, and all of his Pokemon have Static, so expect to get paralyzed.

Oh I know what's coming next.

Least we can take one down, but it's the other Raichu that has Thunder.

gently caress

Well it's not too hard a fight, especially if you have any Ground types.

The toughest TRAINERS in the land have gathered with you as the goal, DAVID. We'll be waiting for you at the ORRE COLOSSEUM.

Ah so this is where this place was hiding last game. It took us a lot longer to reach the Deep Colosseum, so if this place is as fun as that, then we'll be in for a good time. Let's go!

Orre Colosseum

Alright, time to make a challenge.

What's there to explain? I'll use my 6 Pokemon, gain experience and cheese the hard battles with items. Gonna be a breeze.

Perhaps you should make a challenge to gain experience. Are you ready to enter? Thank you. Let the ORRE COLOSSEUM BATTLES begin! Please, go in!

O-Oh, we're getting all Stadium in here. That's fine, I can still win with 4 Pokemon, even being at level 60 is nothing against Revival Herbs.

You couldn't dream of beating me! ...what? I'm just following along with the dialogue.

Wait a minute, what's this guy's team like? I feel like I'm missing something here... let me just bring up Bulbapedi-

Oh no

OHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOO we have made a terrible mistake.

The Orre Colosseum is nothing like the postgame colosseums from, uh, Colosseum. It's more akin to the Battle Mode in that game, which is why this game doesn't explicitly have a Battle Mode. All opponents you'll face will be level 60 and have proper movesets, EVs and IVs, as well as a specific strategy that ranges from infuriating to downright luck based. You can't come straight here after beating the game with your story team. As you just saw, I got flattened, rolled up and tossed aside, so if I want to get through this place without trading over my Battle Frontier team from Emerald, then I think we should see what the rest of the postgame has to offer.

A very nice haul from Citadark Isle, as expected since we caught THIRTY SIX Shadow Pokemon in that one area. Remember that Colosseum had 48 total Shadow Pokemon. (Okay, 51, but we don't count those). We've got a LOT to purify.

yessssssssssss

We need to restock on items. And Pokeballs, we're not done with Shadow Pokemon just yet!

Miror B. Encounter

Guess I died of boredom during that final battle, cause I'm in heaven.

Guess who has the last Shadow Pokemon in the game?

Why do you always mess with our plans to get all the POKEMON in the world? No thanks to you, we've lost more POKEMON than we've caught!

Let me wind down the music and take a look! Oh, you are! You are that super-annoying brat! It's all your fault that my SHADOW POKEMON is the last of its kind! But you did worse! You messed up my dance for celebrating the future of TEAM MIROR! Today of all days, you're not going to get away! No, you'll never, never get away! Let the music play!

Miror. B Battle

Now this is a postgame battle! Once you've captured the other 82 Shadow Pokemon, you can face Miror B. to snag the final one. Yes, this does indeed mean this is the last battle against Miror B., but I am sure he will return in future. Regardless, he still lives in our hearts.

Also yeah, because of Swift Swim and really strong Water moves flying around everywhere, this battle is REALLY hard. But hey, this is the most immediate postgame thing we can do, so might as well go for it!

Thankfully we're able to get a few hits in here and there, but Ludicolo are pretty dangerous Pokemon, especially in the rain, as we've seen in multiple VGCs.

Like, one of our fastest members gets outsped and OHKOed by a rain boosted Hydro Pump. Super scary!

Thankfully even Kakyoin and Portobello can survive a hit. Unless they have Grass or Ice moves. Uh, which they obviously do.

Still, that's two of them down, so we're nearly halfway there!

Ah drat, I was hoping they would both target Rednammok, since he was low on health. But I guess not.

Still, we've been pissing about so much that rain has stopped, so hey, some of our team outspeed them again.

Ah, well, it was nice while it lasted.

Portobello is pretty great in this fight, since only one of the Ludicolo can actually hit it for super effective damage. It's incredibly rare that they go for any of their Fighting moves. However, since I don't spoil myself on movesets beforehand, I was thinking that they all had Ice Beam or Ice Punch. After all, why wouldn't they?

Hey at least Pineapple can survive two hits, so long as they're not both rain boosted. We are having a hell of a time, but we're also doing alright, mainly because Revival Herbs are the best item in the game and let me get away with this bullshit.

However, Revival Herbs only let me do so much against an onslaught of rain boosted STAB attacks. We might be in trouble here, since now they seem to be going for Fighting moves, weird.

Oh sweet mercy.

While that's unfortunate, we're so close to the end! You would've known about Dragonite not only from the Shadow Snag List, but also from the worker inside the Cipher Key Lair, who told you what Shadow Pokemon Miror B. had stolen.

Of course, it's a Dragonite with hard hitting super effective physical Shadow moves. Gotta neuter it.

I'm, uh, also starting to run out of Revival Herbs, despite buying a few more specifically for this battle.

If Dragonite hadn't gotten paralyzed there, I probably would've lost, but who knows what Shadow moves it would've gone for.

Okay, that's enough of that strategy for a while.

This thing is so much stronger than us that I knew an Ice Beam from Kakyoin wouldn't be enough to knock it out. If not, well, I made a save state just beforehand. You can never be too careful with RNG. I wonder how many turns have passed, I hoped we don't take too long catching thi-

Dragonite, 45 catch rate (50%, low health, paralyzed, Ultra Ball or 78%, low health, paralyzed, 20+ turn Timer Ball), starting moves: Shadow Rush/Hyper Beam, Shadow Down/Heal Bell, Shadow Shed/Dragon Dance, Shadow Storm/Earthquake

Oh okay, we'll just catch it first time. Anyway, for the final reward of the game (final good reward anyway), Dragonite is definitely a scary Pokemon with impressive stats all around and a great movepool. With its moveset, it's obvious it can be a physical sweeper and you can relearn Wing Attack easily enough, as well as Brick Break and Body Slam. Dragon Claw is the last TM you can get in the Orre Colosseum, so it'll miss out on that STAB until then, but it's not a huge deal, it can use any good special attack you can think of to slot in, such a Thunderbolt for those pesky Ice Beam carrying Water types and Fire Blast for Steel types. It'll usually need a Dragon Dance to be the most effective, but once it's ready to start taking names, it'll be a great help to you. You've seen how tough things are gonna get, so no harm in using those tough mons yourself, right?

That SHADOW DRAGONITE was CIPHER'S very last SHADOW POKEMON! There's only one thing to do now!

Huh? What is this? In my perfectly coiffed afro do, I found this little device.

Our goodbye must be a harsh one. Farewell Miror B. May you rule the world one day, I'm rooting for you.

There's only one new thing on Citadark Isle. Is Greevil is still upstairs? Well, who cares about him anymore.

Phenac City

Yep. There's a Battle CD at the back of the Phenac Colosseum, in the postgame. The gently caress, game?

Oh I guess there's also this girl.

This isn't strictly a postgame battle, you can fight her as soon as you free Phenac. But weirdly enough, you can never rematch her, so either fight her then, or now. So hey, let's do it now, since the CD is the only reason you'll ever come back here otherwise.

There are of course plenty of trainers to rematch in the postgame with strong teams. It's one way to train up for the Orre Colosseum, but come on, I'm not doing that, I want some real postgame content. I barely rematched any trainers last game and I'm not gonna start now!

Though of course I'm being coy. There are no more unique postgame fights. There is more postgame, but that's only after you've beaten the first round of the Orre Colosseum. And even then, it's not something you can do to toughen up. Think the Delta Episode, but longer, more annoying and with no battles. XD's postgame loving sucks, cause it's really small and it expects you to just trade over battle facility ready Pokemon to actually beat it. That's never fun.

So what are we going to do then? Sure, I can take on the rest of the Orre Colosseum with some hacked Pokemon, like I always do for battle facilities. But there must be a way to access the rest of the postgame otherwise.

Like the last game, we can now trade Pokemon over from the main series games, though you're not able to trade straight from Colosseum, alas. Now for the rest of this update, since the postgame is small and bad and the remaining CDs are small and bad, we might as well lump it in now. It'll be important for stuff next update anyway.

Reward: Full Restore

The hell? They're making us win a full battle in just two turns. With all the Pokemon we have, there's a lot of strategies we could use.

Since the opponents don't really do much of anything, the puzzle is figuring out how to beat them in the time limit.

Well the first step is weakening Magneton, but not enough so it knocks it out, otherwise the Pokemon that get sent out end up with Aggron at the start of turn 2, who will use Protect and fail us.

There we go, that's much better. We'll use Metagross since it has the highest Attack out of everyone and it has Earthquake.

Oh really now?

And with double Earthquake, that's how we beat 6 Pokemon in 2 turns. As easy as that.

Reward: Nugget, CD 34

Aw look at their widdle faces. We mostly have type advantage and the moves to pull through. Should be easy enough, but low level battles are scary since you don't get much leeway.

Oh. poo poo. Chikorita is able to take a few hits, heal up with a Sitrus Berry and can even knock out Smoochum, but I guess not this time. Ah well, my favourite starter line shined enough last game.

Alright, let's get serious here.

Wahey, we take those.

Pfft, whatever. While Dig didn't knock it out, Quick Attack does just enough.

All Magby does is Seismic Toss, so we have exactly four turns. Why couldn't you have the HP IVs for 21??? Also, why are my attacks doing so little damage?

Oh right. I forget about these things way too easily.

Reward: Nugget

We had an easy enough time last time, but can we flip the tables?

See, this is what should've happened last battle!

Especially since it's nearly demolished half our team.

But hey, all we need are four Seismic Tosses. So how lucky are we feeling?

I'd say pretty lucky.

But how lucky are we really feeling?

The perfect amount. I love/hate Double Team.

Reward: Salac Berry, CD 45

Should be easy, the Regis are super poo poo offensively. So the fact that this is an A side worries me greatly.

Well that was super obvious.

Even the SpDef behemoth struggles against Raikou's Thunders. Especially since Sitrus Berries are only 30HP recovery.

Well that's what I get for using Thunder anyway.

Onto the last one already.

Pfft, that's not going to matter.

Oh poo poo it actually did.

Oh for... will you just die already?!

Whatever, I'll take it.

Reward: Salac Berry

Ugh, welcome to the worst Battle CD in the game. It's not the hardest, the Latis VS Birds was the hardest since we didn't have Soul Dew and they do a lot of damage when they target down one Lati. But this CD is one of the longest and it is very easy for things to go wrong.

Firstly we need to make sure we can actually take attacks.

At least this is easy enough, but you might get unlucky with Double Team.

It even lets us survive a few Fire attacks.

Unfortunately this is all Regirock does in this fight.

The final matchup is frustrating, since all you can do is Toxic stall.

Which lets Suicune get off two Hydro Pumps before we can even boost. This ain't looking good.

You can definitely win this if you get lucky with Hydro Pump misses. But I don't see one of those around here. Still, at +6, we could survive another one.

Oh right, never mind. Whatever, it was only a 14 turn fight that involved some stalling so it took forever. We need to sort our strategy out. The most consistent way of winning is to switch Regice out after it's beaten Raikou, so you can then use it at the end of the battle for the last few Poison turns if Registeel faints. Let's try it.

Uh

Okay, annoying but not a huge de-

Oh come on! If you get burned, then Regirock is no longer able to 1v1 Entei if you switch out Regice. Let's just restart, since Registeel really can't take much damage, we need to conserve it for Suicune.

gently caress OFF

Still, Regice lives and takes it out! And yes, I also got para'd, because this CD wasn't lovely enough.

And this time Suicune pisses about so Registeel will faint, but then so will Suicune.

I saved Regice for this moment, so like hell I'm gonna let it go to waste! Let's just pretend this CD never happened.

Reward: Sacred Ash

Aw yeah, I'm gonna win me the Unova League! Because that's how you end a trashfire of a league in a trashfire of a series.

Is it even possible to beat this Pokemon? Let's find out.

I'm not sure if Helping Hand still works if the Pokemon using it faints, but it's better than it doing nothing.

Oh yeah, that's the stuff.

A necessity, since paralysis is so good.

Now it's time for Eevee to be useful.

Well that's to be expected, but now we can use Flareon's Shadow Ball! The crit just speeds this battle up.

Eevee lasted a lot longer than I expected, but Umbreon can chip it easily enough.

And then Flareon beats Mew. What you so surprised about?

Haha, why would you ever bother going to Mt. Battle, when both Battle Bingo and Battle CDs give you many more Poke Coupons. Coupled with the many free items you get, especially some free Salac Berries and a Sacred Ash (which can only be legit obtained in this way in Gen 3), means it is very worth your time doing these. Sure, some of the CDs fuckin suck, but the strategies and cool battle mechanics you use here definitely make it worth it.

Well that didn't get us that much closer to beating the postgame, so I guess I'll have to climb Mt. Battle to train up my team. Joy, what a way to spend a few hours.

Lugia basically decided the large upset, since I'm guessing some of you were getting a bit too comfortable with your number as I went a long period without resetting. So that means Explopyro was dead on and gets 1st place! BlazeEmblem & mateo360 get joint 2nd place! And Dr. Fetus gets 3rd place! To everyone else, better luck in the remake, or sequel or whatever. Maybe I'll do something like this again. If you've forgotten the prizes...

Explopyro gets a Free forum's upgrade OR avatar OR a free forum's upgrade or avatar for your favourite/least favourite poster!

BlazeEmblem & mateo360 get a Free avatar of my choosing :D

Dr. Fetus gets a Free copy of Bad Rats on Steam! Yaaaaay!

These prizes are not negotiable. Though since this isn't a toxx, I guess I can't exactly make you if you really don't want to. If you're really attached to your avatar, or already have Bad Rats, then I guess you can give your prize to someone else on the list. All the prizes will be given out at the end of the month, uh, when I get paid, since I didn't expect to end the main game and the sweepstakes so early.

Lastly, we're gonna need some help for some of the Orre Colosseum, I should be able to beat the first round with our team, since every round after that is something you can happily ignore if you don't care about TMs, or nothing that progresses the story. But for rounds 2-5, I think we should use some of these drat Shadow Pokemon we've been amassing.

So, suggest 11 Shadow Pokemon to use!, since Lugia is of course number 12. One per person! Since the Orre Colosseum is so tough, only suggest serious Pokemon, but so long as they're fast and hit kinda hard, they should work out just fine. So I won't be using Poochyena, but I can use Magmar, for instance. If you want to make a specific moveset, that's cool, but you don't have to. First come, first serve!

... oh dear. I won? Oops. That wasn't supposed to happen.

I was really just in it for the fun of it rather than the prizes, but I think I still need Platinum so what the hell, why not? Thanks muchly.

As for Orre Colosseum... I'm really not sure what to suggest, considering I have yet to finish it myself (the farthest I've gotten was beating the first two rounds with my ingame team, which wasn't good enough to go past that; I should get back to it one of these days). If you got a decent nature, Zapdos is always good, maybe Drill Peck/Thunderbolt/Extrasensory/Thunder Wave?

FYI, the only Battle CD that's truly postgame is #46, I distinctly remember being able to get the rest of them before then (although I don't know what the precise event flags are, I should've been keeping track because nobody seems to have good documentation on this game).

Also, I discovered fairly recently that there's a missable special scene, which you might want to show off if you don't know about it: When you purify Shadow Lugia, the NPCs including Lily and Krane congratulate you, and the NPCs' positions in the Purify Chamber room seem to permanently change. But only if it's not the last pokemon you purify; if it is, you get the scene for "you purified all the shadow pokemon" instead and never see it. If you do Lugia first and then something else, you'll see both scenes. I don't know how widely known this is, I haven't looked that hard but I haven't seen it discussed anywhere.

Yes, a hidden item in an area you could only get access to via a real life event or cheating. Pokemon secrets sometimes are just absurd.

Aye, I showed as much in my LP, though sneakily, Ho-oh in Emerald does hold a Sacred Ash and lets you find a hidden one, whereas FRLG's Ho-oh doesn't AND you have to dig it up from the ground. Very rude, but I guess you might know about it if you remembered the Gen 2 Ho-oh had a Sacred Ash also. gently caress events, but they're cool to show off.

Oh yeah, we have Salamence, Zapdos, Scyther, Snorlax, Dragonite, Articuno, Starmie and Moltres! So three more suggestions left!

Exactly, it seems so natural to do Lugia last that I suspect a lot of people miss out on seeing it (although I guess that's only true if you're a completionist, but then what kind of monster wouldn't purify all the shadow pokemon?). That's the only reason I mentioned it.

Part 18: First and Only Round

Mt. Battle

Yo yo, wanna do six areas of Mt. Battle in one go cause it's the only thing we can really do? Me neither, but this is what you have to do if you want to access the rest of the postgame. Sure, we have Shadow Pokemon that can take this place on, but now we need exp for our team. To make things easier, I spent a fair few Poke Coupons on three Choice Bands for our physical members. Just to speed things up.

But early Mt. Battle is pretty boring and I don't want to go over it. Clearing Area 5 nets you, ugh, Rock Tomb, for Pokemon that need it for any kind of physical coverage, or the sad Rock types that have this as their only STAB move. Rock Slide tutor in Emerald was a godsend, really. Area 6 gets you Overheat, for when you really want to hurt something in a short, quick battle.

Area 7 is when Pokemon levels get boosted again to become high 50s, which is a bit excessive. I'm almost missing the smooth, boring curve of last game. This gets us Calm Mind.

Since the battles are only gonna get tougher, Kakyoin's gonna get the only postgame tutor move. Shame there's not more, but a couple are pretty good, so I'm glad there was something additional.

We're also seeing legendaries! Colosseum's Mt. Battle Battle Mode also had legendaries, except these ones are put into your Strategy Memo. Any Pokemon we encounter in the Orre Colosseum will also count.

Area 8 gets us Bulk Up, but to keep up with the high levels, we'll be using all 9 Rare Candies we found on our journey, using the Hexagon Brothers' postgame teams to make our levels even beforehand.

Area 9 has another level boost as we climb higher and higher to the max level of 70. So yeah, Mt. Battle is much harder in this game than the last one, which does make it more interesting. But it's also a bit too tough, so it's another annoying postgame wall you have to overcome. However, the results speak for themselves, we're getting some nice levels. Oh yeah, here's Aerial Ace, way too late.

The final 9 battles of this place are pretty drat tough, with high level Pokemon and dangerous strategies. But since I can use my items, I'm finding it okay to get through, if a bit draining. Time for the final battle.

It's been five years, but it's time to face... Battlus? Where'd Somek go? Well, this actually is Somek, but in Japan, he was always called Battlus and I guess they decided to not change his name this time. Or they forgot. They probably forgot.

Mt BtlMaster Battlus Battle

drat this team is scary! While it's not so completely overwhelming as the endless Earthquake combo from last game, it's still a bunch of Pokemon that hit really, really hard. And half of them have Earthquake.

Shame Pineapple goes down here, if we want any real chance of beating this team, we'll need to paralyze everything so we can actually be faster and not get knocked out in two hits.

Hotdog is set up as, perhaps unwitting bait, so Salamence can go down.

Something else that's very scary comes to replace it. We'll need Pineapple.

Owwwwwwwwww

With that, Portobello can start taking Slaking down. Hmm, aren't I ignoring something really dangerous?

Nah, doesn't look like it.

Oh look, something else incredibly scary.

Okay fine, I'll start attacking Latios. I just got distracted a little!

While our team is taking a terrific beating, we're slowly getting through this.

Excellent, just in time for the final two.

Obviously Latias is the main focus.

Ah poo poo, of course it has Shadow Ball.

Ah crap that's really bad.

Maybe I could flinch it to death, but that works too.

Very nice, but now Kakyoin is out and he's quite the Dragon killer.

Oh come on!!!

This could've been over a lot sooner had Dusclops not have such an irritating movepool. Since it has Protect as well, it can be devastating if he sends it out earlier.

But otherwise, it doesn't do much else.

You, being so young, may not understand how I can be so happy about losing. Well, I'm delighted, even ecstatic, that someone so young as you could defeat me. Congratulations. Here are your POKE COUPONS for clearing AREA 10.

...uh, was that it? Well yes, if you did what I did and took on Mt. Battle with a different team and swapped in the PCs and such. But, like with Mt. Battle's Battle Mode from last game, if you clear the entire thing without using a PC in the break room, you'll be rewarded with a Pokemon! No, it's not another Ho-oh, it'll instead be a Johto starter with some unique moves! Chikorita has Frenzy Plant and Ancientpower, Cyndaquil has Blast Burn and Reversal, and Totodile has Hydro Cannon and Crunch. You can choose one of them each time... so you need to clear this place THREE times to get them all. Considering all starters were able to learn those special moves in DP, this isn't really worth it. This means, in total, to get all the rewards across both games, you need to clear Mt. Battle five times. Like fuuuuuuuuuck am I doing that. Twice is plenty!

Alright, I think we're finally ready to take on the Orre Colosseum again, we gained 10 levels from clearing 6 zones (well, 2-3 of those were Rare Candy), so that's alright, I guess. Since the Item Clause is in effect, only dril gets the Choice Band and Hotdog gets a White Herb, since one use items are refreshed each battle and it lets him spam Overheat more.

Colosseum First Round

With a new and improved team, we won't be easily beaten!

Thankfully Gardevoir doesn't want to attack, but instead miss with Hypnosis. I approve.

Alright, we're doing much better than last time, where we didn't knock out a single Pokemon before we lost!

Hmm, this could get tricky now he's pulling off his sleep strats.

Choice Band dril means all that's left is Slowbro.

It just didn't heal enough, we're onto the next round!

Wonder what strategy we'll see this time around?

motherfucker

While confusion is one of the worst things ever and I hate it with a fiery passion, it's only a 30% chance and if we break through it, we'll be fine.

Oh we are completely hosed.

I was not expecting the Lickitung to start a sweep, but even if I wanted to take it out, I can't!

And it just one shots Pineapple, great.

I know it already has Own Tempo, but does it also have Thick Fat? Cause Lickitung took that way too well. I guess it has a bulky EV spread.

Alright, we beat the first battle to then immediately lose in the second battle! Ain't this place just great? Well, we're out of unique places to grind, so let's get back into it.

Similar, but not exactly. Still, Hotdog has been pretty good at getting through this.

Everyone else less so, but hey, at least Grumpig is attacking Hotdog for some reason. I like that the AI has remained insultingly easy throughout the whole game!

That tactic won't work on me again!

All that remains is Spinda. While it's a strong, EV trained Spinda with good IVs... it's a Spinda.

We're halfway there!

Oh goody, paralysis, confusion (just after a battle full of confusion) AND misdirection! At least nothing is particularly strong.

Still, misdirection only works as long as you have the HP to abuse it.

Another good rule is to use Protect all the dang time, especially when new Pokemon come out so they don't surprise you with their poo poo.

Now with Raichu paralyzed, Pineapple can take a free turn.

So Hotdog can get a nice hit in (and uh, gets paralyzed because Overheat makes contact in this gen for whatever reason), dies to the hit sure, but Raichu dies to recoil. As easy as that.

Kakyoin unfortunately won't do much, but it draws the Psychic from Xatu.

Now it's just dril VS Stantler. We've got the Choice Band, so we'll win easily!

Oh never mind, we just lost. Save states are the only reason I can get through this bullshit!!!

Okay, we broke through the confusion. Can we do it again?

Just barely! Now just one more round and we never have to think about this drat place ever again!

Oh goody, guess who you can encounter in the Orre Colosseum?

At the end of each of the seven rounds of the Orre Colosseum, we'll face a familiar foe. I was only showing off the teams for every trainer since you have to fight these four to access the rest of the postgame, so I'll only be properly covering teams for those we've met before. Unfortunately, Lovrina's team sucks and trainers we fight here will have completely different teams to what they were using in the main game, so you can't use that as a basis.

Shuckle is going to sit there the entire battle and be barely a threat.

Wrap is annoying, but eh, I'm focusing on everything else first, cause that's more interesting.

Uh, okay. I'm glad I was chipping away at it then, if it was going to just blow its strategy early like that.

Annoying, but it doesn't matter, Mirror Coat doesn't affect Houndoom, so I can use all the special moves I want.

Okay Shuckle did just claim a kill, but I've got three other Pokemon, I'm not worried.

Since her other Pokemon aren't doing anything to me, I can take this no problem.

Eyy, it's the happy dinosaur. Also the lovely confusion variant.

Good turn everyone!

Okay, back to normal it seems.

SIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH

Alright, only Shuckle left. Surely it can't be that hard to take out?

Hey that helps.

That too, thanks for not using Rest again!

Cool, you get Poke Counpons for beating this place. Whatever, the rest of the postgame is available and you don't give two shits about battle facility fighting, then feel free to completely ignore the rest of the Orre Colosseum. Ah, if only I actually had such an option...

In recognition of your brave achievement, DAVID, LOVRINA has conferred on you a new title. This is it. Do accept it.

Also, I have a reward for you, too. Go on, take it.

How thrilling. For beating each round of the Colosseum, you get a new title from the person you beat and another TM. So many TMs locked behind the postgame, such a shame.

Anyway, let's move on to the good stuff!!! Ah, did that sound too forced?

Agate Village

Oh? You don't know what I'm talking about? Oh, dear, how annoying. My E-MAIL to you was cut off. Well, let me explain. Lately, a strange affliction seems to have taken root among the POKEMON of AGATE VILLAGE. If you could, DAIVD, would you be so kind as to examine the POKEMON of AGATE VILLAGE? Oh, how delightful! Just a little while ago, SENILOR's son came calling for advice. But since my husband is away, I can't be of much help by myself. That's why I'm glad you've come. There are five POKEMON in AGATE VILLAGE in total. Please examine them all. I hope I can count on your success. I wonder what on earth is happening. DAVID, I'm counting on you.

Sounds easy enough, you remember where all the Pokemon in this village are, right? Let's start with an easy one.

It's very strange. We'd just been to the POKEMON CENTER, too. Not only that, I had my TAILLOW fitted with some unique machine. This has me worried.

Hmm, very odd. Only certain Pokemon really keep to themselves. I smell a mystery.

Now we know of Senilor's Wobbuffet, but where's the fifth Pokemon in this village?

Correct, in a house I've never once visited! You're good at this.

That's the way it is? Really?

It makes me feel so lonely... hm? What's wrong? The frustrated look on its face... it seems as confused as I am over why it can't seem to say anything.

Ever since that WOBBUFFET became that way, my old dad's been depressed, too. Maybe it is that thing... you see, I fitted that WOBBUFFET with a machine called a POKEMON TRANSLATOR. An old man in the POKEMON CENTER gave it to me. But while it went on easily enough, the device won't come off. It's got me concerned... do you think it might be because of that POKEMON TRANSLATOR machine? That old man at the POKEMON CENTER sure like peculiar inventions. But boy, this is really annoying.

The old man loves new inventions. Even though they're usually useless.

Oh, child! There's no need to remind me of that. But this isn't good... POKEMON shouldn't be affected this way... I was given those by, uh... DR. KAMINKO, I think it was. He comes by with peculiar inventions every so often. But I have no idea where he lives, or anything of that nature. Hmm... what to do...

Dr. Kaminko's Manor

We can just never get away from this place. Hmm, I wonder where Chobin is... ah, that's not important right now.

What's that you say? But why would that machine... anyways, this could be rather problematical. It won't come off unless a VOICE CASE is used. Hmm... ach, it can't be helped.

What you must do is play that cry at the POKEMON that cries in the same way. That should disengage the TRANSLATOR. If you wish to hear the cry, tell me. I shall play it for you anytime. I will find others for you. Come back after a time. That will do. I will play the cry contained in the VOICE CASE.

Well you can probably see where this is going and it's about as riveting as it sounds. But hey, we'll use this excuse to look around and see if anything's changed in the postgame.

Maybe it's JOVI's turn for adventure. JOVI should ask Mommy.

Thank goodness. CHOBIN is happy to see that JOVI girl go off on an adventure. DR. KAMINKO can focus on his research again and CHOBIN will serve as the doctor's assistant.

Hey! CHOBIN's writing in JOVI's diary again! This is a secret diary! CHOBIN can't write in this!

Agate Village

The first Voice Case is Combusken, since I can't really convey short audio clips in this medium. Unless you're reading this in 2076, of course.

Back to Kaminko's!

Next Voice Case, it keeps sniffing my shoes.

Oh! That was the first cry in some time! Have you found something for me, sweetie? My POOCHYENA has gone back to digging up all sorts of things for me. It's bursting with energy again. It would be fantastic if it could dig up something remarkable one day.

Are you enjoying the postgame yet??? Does this Voice Case want a cracker?

Oh! It cried! I'm sure of it! Oh, good, good! Go get BERRIES like you always do! My TAILLOW has been picking BERRIES for me again. It's overflowing with power!

I just took over the DAY-CARE business from my grandma. I still have a lot to learn, but I'm trying. I hope you'll trust me with your POKEMON.

I nearly forgot the Day Care existed, since we can just nickname Pokemon when they're purified.

Ah, finally, the saluting one.

Hey, WOBBUFFET! ...nope. No response at all. All the other POKEMON have regained their cries, but not our WOBBUFFET. As a result, even my old dad has clammed up and gone silent.

...

Neither WOBBUFFET nor my old dad will say anything, so the house has been ghostly quiet of late. I feel terrible for the both of them. They seem so sad...

If the solution is to clear another round of the Orre Colosseum, I ain't listening.

Is something the matter? What? The same problem showed up in PYRITE? What kind of POKEMON is affected this time? SHROOMISH, you say? It just so happens that I have the VOICE CASE containing SHROOMISH's cry right here. I listened to it a little while ago, so that is it without question.

Looks like this problem is more widespread than we thought. Guess that's everything in Agate at least, can't think of any Pokemon we missed. Zzz... hm! This case is putting me to sleep!

Next time, we'll continue this absolutely riveting sidequest and maybe do more Orre Colosseum. Ain't the postgame just great?
