Carthag Tuek posted:why is the dollar so strong with the current stock poo poo going on? is the ukraine thing overshadowing it? idk poo poo about finances There seems to be consensus that if the ECB were to raise rates to keep up the the Fed, Italy and Greece would default on their debts. (And if the ECB hiked rates they could prevent Italy and Greece from defaulting if the EU also kept buying bonds, but they are ideologically opposed.) Also, since the Swiss Franc is pegged closer to the Euro than the Dollar, it officially hit parity with the Dollar today for the first time since 2019.

Honj Steak posted:the reason for this is not a superior socialist rail network, but relatively recent investments in Eastern infrastructure since reunification and, most importantly, lower population density meaning less trains on the tracks. The West German rail network is operating way beyond capacity, which means one late train often leads to a shock in the entire network. The Ostalgie comment was a shitpost, but I don't find population density to be a persuasive reason for delays at all, as other countries have obviously overcome that challenge. In Japan the average train delay is about one minute. It's of course correct to say they're operating beyond capacity, in part because Germany doesn't fund rail investment nearly as well as some of its neighbors:

definitely comparable levels of racism between US and Europe, though most of polite European society are in extreme denial about this wrong about food and coffee (also funny because coffee isn't grown in either the US or Europe) the claims about muh freedoms and Europe being poor and less "dynamic" are vague and weird weather is a mixed bag and it's not surprising that Saagar is bragging about the scope of US Imperialism as a net positive

There's also healthcare, education, and housing discrimination that's covered as well.

a bit risky, as it's named Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht. you can read their platform on their website. platform is solid other than this red flag: quote:Immigration and the coexistence of different cultures can be enriching. However, this only applies as long as the influx remains limited to a level that does not overwhelm our country and its infrastructure, and as long as integration is actively promoted and succeeds. We know: The price for increased competition for affordable housing, for jobs with low wages and for failed integration is not primarily paid by those on the sunny side of life. Anyone who is politically persecuted in their home country is entitled to asylum. But migration is not the solution to the problem of poverty in our world. Instead, we need fair global economic relations and a policy that strives to create more prospects in our home countries.
