~*electron apps*~ slack is hot garbage. upgrade to a paid plan to see your personal conversation history. what? want to skip to the most recent posts in the convo? gently caress you! unless we decided you're too far back. probably the most annoying bug for me is if you click a notification, the app comes to the foreground, but doesn't get focus. so I'll start typing but it's not going anywhere, so I have to click the app again great product 5/5

slack I think is a symptom of the current paradigm shift of internet culture. back when IRC was more popular, big corporations didn’t have much of an understanding of the value of internet, and the market wasn’t really there yet, so a lot of end user software was made by hobbyists or university students. now that there’s a lot more money trying to be the next google, you have startups that can dump a lot more resources on making a full featured product quickly. but they’re not as concerned with the end user experience, they’re more about making the software appeal to capital. so slack has a fairly corporate design approach and is sort of toxic to hobbyist and casual communities
