Agreed. I’d place more blame on Draxler, who does not seem to do anything of note for club or country and yet keeps failing upward. He runs into other peoples’ space, doesn’t stay wide, and doesn’t seem to understand overlapping play. Also, Kroos is 100% dependent on Casemiro making him look competent in midfield. For the first goal, Kroos just jogs back expecting someone else to make the defensive play. On top of that, Kroos is usually backed by 4 of the best defenders in the world plus a world-class goalkeeper. In this tournament, he had 3 and a shell-shocked Neuer. He’s not bad, he’s just not great, and there were better options.
