So there was definitely a meeting where an EA executive accidentally gave the flying mechsuit shooter game to the BIoware guy and the Dark Star Wars game to the Respawn guy and everyone was too afraid to correct him and here we are

well that just cemented my belief that EA is the worst publisher. activision is poo poo too but at least they know how to tap into the nostalgia vein and do it well. Ubisoft makes fun games and they seem to learn from mistakes they make. Bethesda has good track record as publisher as well. all EA does is chase trends and kill good IPs and studios.

So I am going to do a pretty deep Anthem OP tonight since we have enough information to finally start talking about it (ok, so the conference blew rear end and didn’t reveal anything, but Bioware is answering a boat load of questions right now on Twitter and gameplay on the floor is coming out with a lot too). It’s stuff like Dungeons/Raids, PVP (there isn’t any), loot boxes don’t exist (and all cosmetics can also be earned in game), and its a lot closer to Warframe than it is Destiny actually. There’s clans too. And a lot more. I left very uninspired watching that as Anthem is the poo poo I am most looking forward to in gaming, period. So, basically, I will do what EA couldn’t do and that’s tell you all about this garbage...cool garbage that is.

Honestly the thing that annoys me the most is how bad EA has hosed up star wars. give the IP to ubisoft or bethesda or loving anyone else. we might actually get some fun games instead the same game twice accept the first time was early access.

My issue with Anthem was just that it looked boring. Much slower and less dynamic than Destiny, which I’m only lukewarm on in the first place. Jetpacks can’t save it.

tbh I don't hate the 30 seconds of Anthem they've shown so far as much as everyone else seems to, but the #1 risk to this game is going to be running out of poo poo to do in a week and everyone turning on it hard, and we're 8 months from launch and the game does not yet appear to even be in a playable state

There's nothing there to hate, really, but also nothing to hold on to. There's no hook. It's just a generic video game with no personality, no innovation, and no reason to care.

I have never played a second of either Destiny game and don't really know anything about them, but to me Anthem looked painfully dull even in spite of the setting and concept (you're Iron Man on an alien planet) seemingly being custom-made to make me interested before finding out it's a loving MMO and thus doomed from the start.
