This explains it pretty well.

I just picked up a DI turbo civic si - so I guess the best way to prevent this is one of those catch cans? Any other tips? I plan on keeping this car until the wheels fall off and I'd like to avoid the walnut blasting if possible.

I had a bitch of a time getting certain parts for my old e46 - a few times I had to get things shipped from Germany. American cars have widespread parts availability at any auto parts store.

Yeah I just got the gallon of mcguires APC interior it's great.

I used to use sprayaway glass cleaner on everything but they changed the bottle and I think formula and it doesn't foam up like it used to :(

Pretty much exactly how I felt about my '01 330Ci - easily my favorite of every car I've owned, but holy poo poo the amount of random failures and nonsense that just straight up didn't even exist on most other cars was exhausting.
Definitely glad when I sold it, but I still miss it 7 or so years later.
