I got my PC back, and apparently I had saved mid-mission. It was ugly. I'm now rolling a pretty top-heavy force as my lower level dudes just keep getting hosed up badly. Lieutenant "EBB" Got grenaded off the top of a building, then gunned down before he had a chance to stand up. RIP poo poo mod Lt. Water "Lurker" 777 Got gunned down at range by an Andromedon. Someone REALLY doesn't like Skirmishers, that's the second I've lost. Asp. SPARK-001  Julian, you escaped your hellpit only to get punched in the face by an Andromedon as the squad took on the Assassin. 11 kills in 2 missions might be a record though.Cpt. Jenette "1SG SGM" Vasquez. Got smoked by one of Mueller's Sectopods. I like to think her death had a galvanizing effect on him. Sgt. Arc 'Shitposter' Light That same Sectopod took an interest in him, too. Mueller was pissed. Sgt. Pooki "Genderstomp" Bear Gunned down by a heavy MEC while changing cover. Poor dude got one-hitted. But he was never gonna last with that lack of heart. Cpl. J Krusinski, Melted in a pool of acid. Maj. Sean 'SeanMac' MacDonald. Got splashed by the same pool of acid that did in Krusinski, got blasted while running to a safer position, then died as a result of the lingering acid damage. He had made Colonel that mission, too. I heard he was three days from retirement. Chosen Kills: Assassin - got sniped by Two Finger. Warlock - an improbable (but apparently not impossible) crit by Imanentized. Owing to rescuing two soldiers from the mission where Shim and Seanmac bought it, I have an unnamed Colonel level grenadier. First to speak up gets it.

Warlock - an improbable (but apparently not impossible) crit by Imanentized. I have yet to do the mission unlocking the three special enemies. Honestly, given how the war's gone, I'm kind of scared to.

With this late stage of the war, I've had to send most of my Colonels home on leave. My 6 best operatives rolled in on the Ice Cave, Two Finger one-hitted the Viper King then declared 'gently caress all you cunts, I'm going for a pie and L&P' before disappearing. This has led to XCOM having to send in Inexperienced Direct Intervention Operator Tactical squads. They have been provided with the very best in equipment and weaponry to make up for their relative inexperience, and to date, the IDIOT initiative has yielded some very promising results. IDIOT 1, as mentioned, tangled with the Berserker Queen with no lasting casualties, beyond a slight twitch in Jaguares' right eye whenever someone stomps their feet too loudly. IDIOT 2 mixed it up with the Archon King, and besides "Diamond" Joe losing his cigar, again took no serious casualties. The IDIOT initiative is thus declared to be a resounding success, and IDIOT squads will be deployed to all theatres of war henceforth. I'm also pleased to report no casualties at all since the last report on the progress of the war. The Chosen are all dead, and there are just two Alien Rulers left to deal with. If only the rest of you would show the same kind of heart, this war would be over already. That man earnt his rapid promotion to Corporal.

Recently got WotC and in my hubris I started a game on commander difficulty as I've completed the original game probably half a dozen times. I'm getting my poo poo wrecked, especially by the Chosen as they randomly show up on missions that at first seems like pretty straightforward affairs.

Lieutenant "EBB" Got grenaded off the top of a building, then gunned down before he had a chance to stand up. RIP poo poo mod Lt. Water "Lurker" 777 Got gunned down at range by an Andromedon. Someone REALLY doesn't like Skirmishers, that's the second I've lost. Asp. SPARK-001 Julian, you escaped your hellpit only to get punched in the face by an Andromedon as the squad took on the Assassin. 11 kills in 2 missions might be a record though.Cpt. Jenette "1SG SGM" Vasquez. Got smoked by one of Mueller's Sectopods. I like to think her death had a galvanizing effect on him. Sgt. Arc 'Shitposter' Light That same Sectopod took an interest in him, too. Mueller was pissed. Sgt. Pooki "Genderstomp" Bear Gunned down by a heavy MEC while changing cover. Poor dude got one-hitted. But he was never gonna last with that lack of heart. Cpl. J Krusinski, Melted in a pool of acid. Maj. Sean 'SeanMac' MacDonald. Got splashed by the same pool of acid that did in Krusinski, got blasted while running to a safer position, then died as a result of the lingering acid damage. He had made Colonel that mission, too. I heard he was three days from retirement. Sgt. Lando "Good Boy" Howlrissian Got one hit critted by an Archon. We hardly knew him. Lt. Viva "Agent 69rd" Mariya Grenaded off the top of a building, then stabbed by a Lancer. Sqr. SPARK-002 Shot in the robot-face by the Chosen Hunter. Never stood a chance. Cpt. Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka Missed a 92% slash, then got punched in the jaw by an Archon. Honestly, he probably let it kill him out of shame. Cpt. Dirk "HCT" America Captain America got outflanked and outgunned. Maj Ed "Hotmouth" Balls Shares the dubious distinction of highest-ranking casualty. Got shot twice by a Sectopod in one round. Nothing I could do to save him. Rk. Iron Shiek. He suplexed his last enemy. Chosen Kills: Assassin - got sniped by Two Finger. Warlock - an improbable (but apparently not impossible) crit by Imanentized. Hunter - taken down by my third Spark. Alien Ruler Kills: Viper King - loving dusted in a reaction shot by Two Finger. Repeater chance fired and down he went. The achievement popped before the cutscene had even finished playing, lol. Berserker Queen - Spark-003 wrecked her poo poo with a triple shot following overdrive. Archon King - Immanentized put in the finishing blow.
