Any suggestions for making a lot of EC without hating my life? I want to fly a Keldon but I'm short about 485m EC and don't really want to run Tour the Galaxy for the next year and a half.

It's huge and slow and mean. As well it has a solid carrier trait. Really the biggest downside here is that I don't have a bugship for it's pets.

T6 Bugship: This would get me the pets for my t5 carrier, and hey the console isn't half bad. Granted nothing else really worthwhile as I'm not a fan of cannon builds and this doesn't even have pilot abilities iirc.

I haven't done it myself, but allegedly you can get the T5 bugship from Ultra Rare Phoenix tickets to unlock the carrier pets.

I have some event ships from like 2012-2015, and picked up the T6 Risian Cruiser, but missed out on basically everything in between. I did pick up that charity bundle with the Narendra and bought the Arbiter at some point, so I have a couple of useful traits. I just find it hard to tell which of the other random traits I have are worth using when they never really appear in any meta builds.

I have a main that I don't really like much. My long-term plan is to buy the Gamma Vanguard Pack the next time it goes on sale and make a new Cardassian main. I don't really feel like doing a ton of space chores between now and then.

In the meantime, I have a gamma recruit and a temporal recruit who are basically done their objectives except for a shitload of doffing and specialization points. I was thinking about using the upgrade weekend to make an upgraded set of rainbow beams for each recruit to make endeavors easy and just sort of gradually grind out the exp for spec points.

Is that a reasonable plan or is there a fast way to grind out specialization points and doff commendations that is also low effort?

There's a reclaim tab under reps? I definitely can't find it.

The hard cap on refining for over 3/4ths of the player base being what it is makes it hard for me to believe people log in daily to do nothing but click that button. I know for periods of time people even itt do that but its absurd to think that people are sitting on 250k refined dil outside of poopsockers like g0del or (back in the day) Mondain. No offense intended of course.

I think lifetime subscribers can refine once a week and still get full value.

This may not be the right place for this question, but I can't think of anywhere else to ask. Are there any other games that have vaguely similar space combat to STO? I like the (theoretically) slower paced combat and managing weapon dps vs firing arcs and ship maneuverability when I'm not just nuking enemies down in one beam overload cycle.

I'd take a legendary bundle of Dominion ships. Most of the recognizable Jem'hadar ships from the show are just the T5 versions. Throw in an updated Galor/Keldon and maybe the Breen warship.

VV Guess I didn't spend enough time in the ship customizer.

Oh they're from lockboxes and stuff, that's why I missed them.

The Gagarin trait is basically mandatory for discount torpedo builds, right? I'm getting slightly bored of beams, but already have a 5/3 miracle worker ship, so it would pretty much just be for the trait.

I'm open to other suggestions of T6 traits that can single-handedly facilitate a poor man's cannon or science build.

The ship is pretty solid T6, especially if you don't have an entire stable of those running yet. It also isn't too much of a hassle to unlock. Probably worth rolling an event alt just for that.

It's so strange to me that this keeps happening. I'm not surprised that one person can be incompetent, but does Kael (or whoever is ultimately responsible for the blogs) not have a boss that would be embarrassed by the constant misinformation in these blogs? Or his boss's boss? Apparently not a single person in the company cares whether information communicated to the players is accurate.

I was eyeballing the polaron one. Trying to put together a basic polaron build for doing damage dailies.

I mean, I have a USS Polaron Pew Pew but it's some basic bitch bullshit I threw together in ten minutes in the exchange.

It does describe the polaron weapons but there's some shorthand there.

quote:

Cannons are from Lukari Rep, 2x Dominion DC (reward from 2600er story arc), Morphogenic Set from Gamma Quadrant Arc, Turrets from Gamma reputation

Lukari rep refers the Advanced Piezo dual cannons. The Dominion dual cannons are a mission reward, but that mission is pretty long and repeating it a bunch of times definitely isn't worth it over generic cannons if you're just trying to complete polaron damage endeavor dailies. The Morphogenic set is a reward from the mission "Home", which is also a pain in the rear end to repeat because it's super long, but that set actually is worth getting. The last turret is the Advanced Inhibiting turret from the Gamma task force reputation.

Does that make sense?

Though I doubt it's a great idea to use it right now since I'm still using my T6 paladin-class ship.

I think it's a good idea to use that Intrepid now while it's power level matches the content you're doing, so you can get a feel for a science ship. The paladin will keep scaling up as you level up and will eventually outclass that intrepid long-term, but for now you might as well experiment with as many ship types as you can.

I'm entirely too lazy to go digging through people's post history to determine if they're really a newer player or not, so congrats, you should have the code in your PMs now.

It sounds like it only gives you one ship, but I honestly don't know. If it's only one, the Gagarin is the best choice - great ship and a great trait. The Sutherland's a surprisingly decent science ship, but the trait and console aren't anything special and there's a fleet version, so I'd recommend using the coupon on the Gagarin and using free T6 rep fleet marks to get the fleet Sutherland.

Yep, you're right, it was only one of those ships. Much as I love those Nebula-style ships, the Gagarin is clearly the right choice.

I was just thinking about grabbing the Gagarin since the trait is mandatory for torpedo builds that I'd like to check out, so the timing is awesome. Thanks a lot!
