 To start: Walt Whitman, always felt like he was an actor who had taken himself in, posing as the Second Coming etc, desperately needed a sense of irony :-(

On the flip side, poet I suspect may be full of poo poo but love anyway: Wallace Stevens, who may have once characterized his own poetry as "lustred nothingness" :-)
