They can replace him on committee except for the fact that he's still not present, so the Senate can't confirm anybody anyway. McCain and Flake being out means you're at 49 Republicans. Flake not being present for committee is a huge gently caress-you though, but hardly anybody will give him proper credit for it because the Senate is some arcane fuckery. I still hate him for talking the talk all this time but at least he's doing *something*.

I disagree that DR generally got the legal/factual part right. His argument included saying that there was no legal option but to separate kids in the manner ICE did, which is factually wrong and kind of a big deal. Plenty of presidents didn’t do that without themselves abrogating the law. As a side to the politics poo poo, I literally had no idea how loving bad it is for climate change. Its not doomsday poo poo yet but its starting to feel like it. San Diego has had something like < 3" of rain thus this year. Temperatures now are 2-6 degrees higher than the last few years. poo poo looking real grim for the next century. Acidification of our oceans being a pretty big one too. I wonder if we have any chance, or if our generation will be the one to doom humanity.

Edit: also, the DC area has had a years worth of rain fall by the end of July, including two days in June and July when we had a months worth of rain fall in one day, and the sixth wettest month on record in May.
