No. 1 Apartheid Fan posted:aside from just the research that can directly be done in microgravity, space funding is good for scientific progress because "space exploration" is a concept that's flashy and impresses dipshits so it's a great excuse to funnel money into people who technically work for space agencies but are actually just doing barely-related research  I also think it's important that humanity has something to point at and go "look, progress!" like we did with the moon landing back in the 60s. You can see this desire in all the loving Elon Musk fanboys who think daddy will take them to Mars.
