Gosh, my 4 year old daughter has enjoyed seeing me play Luigi's Mansion, and then she started watching the Real Ghostbusters cartoon.

And now I've got her a little vacuum cleaner backpack, some walkie talkies, and other equipment for us to go around the house hunting ghosts, and as a result now I've looked at Spirit Halloween, HalloweenCostumes.com, and amazon, and now I've got an PKE meter, ghost trap, jumpsuit with Ghostbusters 2 patches to include a customized nametag, and a $250 fullsize proton pack on the way for myself

I've suddenly jumped whole hog into becoming a ghostbuster

Oh man, here's the fullsize proton pack that I just got delivered today. This thing looks pretty sweet!

So far I've impressed my co-workers and my small child with how cool this thing is. I should get a picture of me in my full getup that I've got together now.

Now my daughter wants her own proton pack to match too. I've ordered her the small blue children's toy one.

Well I got my daughter her proton pack and wand, and then I added some paint, a ribbon cable, and decals...

I printed the decals for free off the internet and applied them with a glue stick. Figure that's good enough for a child's toy. These things really look pretty good for $15 toys though.

Now I should see if she wants to customize it herself with stickers or whatever. And maybe attach a tube going from the pack to the blaster.

Well maybe to Vigo it's like saying "I'm the scourge of the Tri-state area", it doesn't have to be the name of a country

Related to WWDITS, it has that spinoff Wellington Paranormal that's a mockumentary that follows Wellington police officers as they deal with paranormal disturbances. Though it's a bit more in the direction of a police show like Cops except with werewolves and ghosts and whatever.

An occasional Space Jam is fun, but happening all the time is annoying. Everything can't be Super Smash Bros, some things should just be themselves.

oh man you guys, I did it, I finished installing a blue power cell light into my proton pack to replace the cheap sticker it had in that spot instead

it looks so good. it animates properly and everything! and it's powered by a red switch I installed near there, like the red switch they put there in Ghostbusters Afterlife

Thanks! I kinda want to do something with the neutrona wand next, but I'm not really sure how I'm going to open it up. I already have cannibalized the LEDs and sound chip from the Frozen Empire toy proton blaster, I kinda want to put it into my wand. I guess I can just start cutting it open like I did the pack...

There's a YouTube channel I like that did a video on repainting a proton pack that might be worth checking out.

Here's another one about "dry brushing," a technique used to make plastic look more like metal that might help too.

(I'd recommend gunmetal paint rather than silver though.)

Interesting suggestion to use graphite powder to make plastic more like metal! Though I do have a bottle of metallic finish satin black paint, maybe I could use a little bit of that.

I'm also familiar with dry brushing metallic paints, but mostly onto wargaming miniatures kind of stuff, haven't really done it for prop/costume purposes much.

It is WAY better than I thought it would be. It’s got more sounds than the Haslab pack and wand (it even includes all 4 firing modes the Spengler wand has). It’s a very tactile experience like the Spengler wand because you press one button to turn it on and select your firing mode, then you extend the barrel (and cocking it one-handed like a shotgun to extend the barrel makes me feel like an enormous badass), then you hold down a different button to charge it (and it’s possible to overcharge it), and then you pull a trigger to fire. It’s got overheating and venting sounds, sounds of you zapping different ghosts, different colored lights all over the place, I genuinely feel like I ripped somebody off by getting this thing for $10. I’d have paid full retail without hesitation if I knew what it could do. I am seriously impressed.

Yeah this thing is pretty nice. I bought one for my daughter, and then bought another one for myself, to strip the electronics out of it for putting into my own proton pack wand. Still trying to figure out what I'll do for putting it in, but yeah the lights and sound effects are pretty nice.

It's really easy to remove the gray barrel extension part, which immediately gives the toy a more classic styled look, but the part does control that power up noise, so alas.
