Ghostbusters is one of my favorite movies and I especially love the scene where Ray and Winston talk about Judgment Day in the car.

I always wondered what other conversations the guys had when they were driving around in between jobs.

I caught part of GB2016 on TV the other day for the first time since I saw it in theaters. Watched about 15 minutes and my takeaway was that I just wanted everybody to STOP TALKING. They never stop. It’s like listening to a team of comedians spitball one liners to punch up a script.

It will be in a small town. The cast will be adolescents who remind you of the stranger things kids. One of them will be related to Dan Akroyd. They’ll work with “uncle Ray” to repair some of the old equipment and fight a local paranormal threat with busted up gear that only works half the time.

guys this movie is oozing with sex and you just don’t see it

when Janosz is covered in slime (which is meant to be semen) he sings “They will come from behind...” which is a reference to gay anal sex.

also that the Statue of Liberty comes to life after four men cover her in slime (Semen). This symbolizes the empowerment of women as a result of the sexual revolution.

I didn't like GB2016. But I was thinking about it the other day and I realized I haven't really liked any comedies in more than a decade now.

Finn Wolfhard and Carrie Coon are in talks to star in Sony’s latest installment in the “Ghostbusters” franchise, sources tell Variety

Jason Reitman is directing the pic and has also co-written a screenplay with Gil Kenan. He plans to shoot the film this summer, with Sony planning to release the latest sequel in summer 2020.

The studio would not comment on plot details, but sources say the story will focus on a single mom and her family, with Coon playing the mom and Wolfhard playing her son. It’s currently unknown how that will connect to the new Ghostbusters team.

The film has been a huge priority for the studio, as it has been secretly developing it for some time using the code word “Rust City.” When Reitman was announced as director in January, a teaser trailer and release date were ready the next day.

There were rumblings that Reitman may have been weary about using anyone from the “Stranger Things” cast, given some of the similarities between the two properties, but both he and the executives were blown away by Wolfhard’s audition.

Wolfhard recently wrapped Season 3 of “Stranger Things,” which premieres on Netflix this July, and is also expected to reprise his role in “It: Chapter 2” this fall. He also has “The Goldfinch” and “The Turning” at Amblin. He is repped by CAA, Velocity Entertainment Partners and Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer Austen Mandelbaum Morris & Klein.

Coon continues to stay busy on both the big and little screen with “Widows” and “The Sinner” earning her critical acclaim this fall. She was also recently seen in “Avengers: Infinity War.” She is repped by UTA, Foundation Talent Management and Peikoff Mahan.

Wait am I nuts or is that not in the movie? I can vividly see that scene in my head.

It doesn't show him listening. It shows Dana tip-toeing past his door and him busting out to greet her with, "Oh, Dana! It's you!"

I suppose that implies he's either listening or looking out the peephole for her to arrive.

Louis explaining how he risked his life to try and turn Dana's TV off is an underrated moment.

"Well yeah, you know what I did? I climbed on the ledge and tried to disconnect the cable, but I couldn't get in, so you know what I did? I turned my TV up real loud too so everyone would think all our TVs had something wrong with them."

Rumours are starting to swirl that the title for the new film is Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

Edit: also they’ve cast someone who’s a bit of a ringer for Harold Ramis. Maybe they’re pulling some Peter Cushing/Rogue One style resurrection.

I love Harold Ramis and I think he should absolutely be remembered in the film, but I really hope they don't do anything like digitally recreate him.

I think the most tasteful approach is that he's passed away in-universe as well and we get a nice, warm scene where he's fondly remembered by his surviving friends and family.

Josh Gad has been doing these movie reunions (BTTF, LOTR, Goonies) to raise money for the rona.

Next up is Ghostbusters. These intro videos are always cringey but the actual reunions have been really enjoyable to watch for super fans, especially the LOTR one.

It leans heavy on nostalgia and definitely has a different tone, but that's fine to me. My expectation at this point is a fun adventure movie set in the Ghostbusters universe.

Ehud

Ghostbusters 2 established that no matter what happens, the people in-universe don't necessarily believe in the supernatural and they think it's possible that the Ghostbusters are just frauds.

That's why they were sued by everyone, why the guys have to work birthday parties for ungrateful little yuppie larva after saving the world, and why Jason Reitman has a cameo to tell Ray, "My dad says you guys are full of crap and that's why you went out of business."

Yeah it's silly, but Ghostbusters is silly.

The Ghostbusters are consummate snowball artists. They use sensitive nerve gases to induce hallucinations. People think they're seeing ghosts, and they call these bozos, who conveniently show up to deal with the problem with a fake electronic light show.
