I use a light backpack with a slot in the back for my laptop. nice for the random time I go in and I can use it for anything else otherwise

my work computer is a too-small screen stuck to an unergonomic pointing device and a built-in ups and my answer is also "small backpack with a laptop slot"

trying to figure out a good name for a property we have a bunch of "tasks" that have associated "posts". normally, users can create posts, but for one task we found it beneficial to pregenerate them. this was just filtered by task id because we were in a rush. now we are developing a new task that will also have pregenerated posts. so to avoid having inscrutable task-id checks everywhere im gonna change them to a boolean property on the task "pregenerated_posts" is a bit clunky. any better ideas?

just call it what it is then don't sacrifice clarity for brevity

come up with some incredibly tortured metaphor that has nothing to do with your application and a name that only makes sense in light of it like call them "augers" because that's what's in a post-hole before you're putting a post in it

another pro move is to reuse the name of an existing feature for something different. you lose some (but not all) points if the feature is no longer used

gonna go with "preform", that wont clash with the enttry form also found out that there was an older "multiPost" property that wasnt actually on the task objects, but was just set based on task.id a couple random places in the code lol so i made that a real property as well

Just write all code related to that in point-free style, then you don't have to come up with a name.Carthag Tuek posted:did you mean preposts? No that would be preposterous.

so usually when i write integration tests, i write like a separate script or something external to what i am testing to like set up the project in a way where some component is broken or unavailable and then test what goes in out, but this time i wanna like have them integrated into the project. what do people usually do for this in java?
|
# ? Apr 19, 2024 15:51 |

We do testcontainers and wiremock in our integration testsuite. Then I guess you can just shut down the container or mock a 500 response. Also Spring 's MockBean annotation lets you replace any bean in an integration test with a mock, though I am not sure whether that's the level you wanna operate at. But you can just make it throw an exception to simulate failure.
