ohhhh man I just remembered I caught the co-op geoguessr VOD when ESA uploaded it to youtube, how hype was that?? I've been playing quite a bit after watching Joel/Vargskelethor's streams so seeing a team of actually competent people was a revelation

kinda, I'm not certified or anything but I've taken a few lessons and you def need to be able to do small repairs as an itinerant orchestra teacher 'cause them shits is fragile

it's one thing to work on guitars or intonate and adjust woodwinds and brass, or even make oboe reeds, but the bridges on classical string intstruments have always made me nervous as gently caress. i just look at that little piece of wood and think "my big dumb fingers are gonna snap that thing in half if i even pretend to touch it wrong". i admire your courage

Good quality wood is strong. Violins - generally speaking - are good wood.

and if that wood is (painted) green or black or purple it must be THE BEST WOOD!!!!!

on the other hand, some of these violins I'm working on have been used for 20+ years and they still sound great even if they look... extremely loved (or unloved)

but yeah violins and string instruments in general are much tougher than they look. good quality instruments in general are much tougher than they look. just try not to drop them
