were ribbon cables designed like that for any particular reason? was it just the manufacturing process of insulating cables in a flat ribbon was easier than doing something else? i remember at one point that I was able to buy ribbon cables that were separated into strands of 3-4 wires so you could move them around easier. cant figure out why nobody put them in other configurations. French Canadian posted:Even better was the ribbon cable origami that people did to keep poo poo out of the way. i had some clips that let me attach ribbon cables flat against my case so "optimize air-flow", and did all the weird 45 degree angle folds to make it look clean inside. def don't miss that.

oh duh i forgot about the connectors. yeah that makes sense, takes zero skill to do it so it's probably extremely cheaply automated
