davidspackage posted:Sort of correct, because the Arenanet thing wasn't about the game, it was about a woman talking back to a man. No it loving wasn't. Price getting fired was about a Arenanet employee public attacking a Streaming Partner (who had enough of a partnership that he had a NPC in the game)/customers after he had tried to have a polite conversation with her after she did a AMA.

Fart City posted:I do think that something that keeps getting lost in the conversation here is how horrible it is that this Twitter targeting campaign is the alt-right corrupting the accountability atmosphere that arose around the #metoo movement. Like (as far as we know) James Gunn or Michael Ian Black have not actually assaulted or harassed anyone in real life (Harmon is his own unique, different story). However, the only reason this has been as effective of a tactic as it has been is because we’re in a moment where bad behavior (specifically sexual assault and harassment) are no longer being blindly tolerated. But that very good and positive culture shift has been more or less weaponozed by the worst people imaginable here, for the most petty and self-serving reasons. Harmon story isn't unique. He was in a position of power over a female subordinate and when she did not return his advances he set out to makes her life as horrible as possible. The only difference is that he got ahead of the story and apologized for his behavior in front of a live audience.

Xun posted:Is there somewhere on SA to talk about the Arenanet thing? I just heard about it but googling about it is a mess because lol gamers Not really. The GBS thread got gasses too early awhile ago and the GW2 thread regulars freak out if you bring it up.
