Should I take the fact that this thread died before it even released as a sign? It's pretty fun. I just gave it a try on the free weekend and had a blast. And plots seem to be very easy to get. You get quite a lot of free currency just from leveling up. I'm pretty sure between my girlfriend and I we could have gotten like 40 plots between us with no money put in whatsoever.
